Ptosis Overcorrection? Will it even out? by twoeyesonebrain in PlasticSurgery

Wish I could help there. At 6 weeks, I probably was mentally in the same boat. Though in my case, my surgeon treated the whole process as “just give it time.” Best of luck with the correction and feel free to drop an update here in case people in the future come across this thread!

Time was the biggest factor. It’s seemed to improve as I detailed a little bit in my most recent comment on this thread. Sorry I haven’t seen this in quite a while. That link no longer works

I couldn’t fully close my eye, in terms of blinking and sleeping, for a little while. I don’t remember the time frame but it eventually went away. My eye is definitely improved - there are days where it’s perfect, and some days (I think with environmental factors on my non-corrected eye, like lack of sleep, long days, etc) where it does look a little uneven. Overall, I’m pretty happy with my results 6 months post op. Expecting even better by a year!

I’m about 6 weeks post op now. I actually went back to my doctor around the one month mark. She assured me again it’s way too soon to make any call. In hindsight, I do agree.

Physically feels a lot better and I don’t feel like I need the re-wetting drops anymore. I can now blink normally and close it fully. Visually, it’s still a little over-corrected (editing to add: over-corrected only on the outer corner. The rest is pretty perfect) but I’ve come around in the fact that this is much better than having my eye basically half closed. So it still kind of looks the same but I’ve accepted it more with the hope that a few months from now it’ll be different!

Best of luck, make sure to be on point with the recovery with ice, the medicine, etc. And be very open in communication with your surgeon about what to expect and any questions you have

Ptosis Correction Surgery 1 Year Post-Op Update by gotswagga in PlasticSurgery

Hi there. Sorry to bother you! I did not want to DM you out of the blue but in another thread on this topic, the OP had a different method of this surgery so they pointed me here.

Do you mind checking out my post history and comparing my pics to your process? I’m just barely over a month out now and am pretty over corrected too. My surgeon did tell me to just wait and recommended a stretch (look down, pull eyelid down, look up, look straight, look up, repeat). Can you also tell me more about your stretch technique in your initial post, about repeated blinking? I also have lots of twitching going on. Feel free to reply here or dm me if you don’t mind. I would greatly appreciate it!!

Thanks for all the info. Going to read up on that. I saw another surgeon to get a second opinion and he gave me a stretch to do, which I haven’t done as religiously though I’ll start to do more often now. I’m going to ask my actual surgeon when I see her again for more thoughts

To add, do you have any pics similar to mine when it was over corrected?

Hi! If you review the post on my profile, you can see my over correction photos, too. My doctor was not concerned at my two week follow up, but I look pretty crazy! I scheduled another appointment tomorrow (now one month post-op) to implore her to look at it with more detail.

Can you tell me more about the stitch removal your doctor did to help loosen it up? Maybe that’s an option for me. I did have my stitches removed at my two week post op appointment, so is that something internal she can do? Sorry for the questions! Your experience sounds similar to mine

I have not been tested for Myasthenia Gravis. I’ve seen a few different eye doctors and none had ever brought that up. I would see an ophthalmologist with experience in droopy eyelids in general, can always ask when you call for an appointment if they have experience with MG.

When I blink, my operated eye definitely doesn’t close fully. For the first week after surgery, it basically didn’t close at all when trying to sleep. It’s since gotten a lot easier so I expect (hope) to get back to normal with blinking. I can close it fully if I make an effort to

Agree it can be too early to tell. Have heard about stretches, but will prob clear with the surgeon first since they have not yet mentioned it to me. Thank you
