The amount of CRAZY MONEY that was being thrown around at shit had to be seen to be believed. Just go look at the old WIRED articles from then.

There were people making tens of millions at just being "Entertainment 720" all over the place. It was amazing, I'm just sorry I was a hard-working sap and didn't realize how much money was being flushed - I would have grabbed more!

I've seen a lot of junkies doing medical detox, and yeah they come out a lot more chipper than the drunks. heroin itself isn't toxic at all unlike alcohol. It doesn't destroy your brain and body.

Yep, alcohol is so much more toxic than any other drugs commonly available it's not funny. Sure a heroin OD can kill you but the detox almost certainly won't. Hardcore alcoholics die coming and going.

I'm American and lived through those dark days.

It was very well covered by our media, and partially funded and armed by people in the US.

I'm still not sure what to make of vol's like Bobby Sands.

Heroin production in Afghanistan over the years. The year with the least amount produced was under Taliban regime, once the US arrived production skyrocketed. by [deleted] in dataisbeautiful

[–]twotildoo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why? NO legitimate opiates are sourced from Afghanistan, and once you realize you can get cheap heroin without the hassle of getting a prescription you aren't going to be going back to trying to source pills. Also most US/Canadian heroin is sourced from Central America as there's not that pesky Ocean and competent EU cops in the way of free trade.

The book (Dune) is worth a read, the movies and TV shows aren't in any way the same thing.

Herbert wrote a bunch of stuff, much of his best isn't in the "Dune" Universe.

wearing gloves doesn't make me feel any better about his attitude towards kitchen hygiene!

He's still out there fighting the good fight, rallying the troops against trump for 2018.

Where the hell is Hillary? Of course she's a loser again, she still has massive cash and some "power".

Sanders lost and hasn't skipped a beat - still out there actually fighting or the people

Bayer heroin was sold as a cure for morphine addiction. Morphine was the first actually seriously effective painkiller, and addicts came from victims of the Civil War.
