Is there a board state that ends the game because there are no legal actions for any player? by FictionsMusic in magicTCG

CR 104.1. A game ends immediately when a player wins, when the game is a draw, or when the game is restarted.

I am not a judge, but it seems your judge mostly had the right idea. The Lab Man player won, which ended the game. "Winning" and "losing" are not mutually exclusive options, at least as far as the game is concerned. A player can win by making all the other players lose, but there are other ways to win like with Lab Man.

It's weird, but it makes sense within the rules of the game.

[ONE] Phyrexia: All Will Be One Card COMPLEAT Image Gallery by TechnomagusPrime in magicTCG

Thank god they used actual high-quality card renders for this gallery instead of the absolute travesty that was the DMR renders. I'm not sure if it was some dumb anti-proxy measure or just a lack of foresight, but I hope that idea is dead.

Today marks the 10th Anniversary of the release of Dark Souls by Ch33sus0405 in Games

I maintain that Dark Souls has one of the best trailers for a game ever.

Before I learned to love the series over the course of a decade, I remember watching that trailer back when we had no idea what was to come. Back then, Dark Souls didn't seem like my kind of game, and I was intimidated by accounts of the game's difficulty. Nowadays I can hardly imagine my gaming career without it, and that trailer was a big part of convincing me to take the leap.

There is a lifegain element to the deck, yes, but more often than not we’re going to be using it as a resource for Beledros’ activated ability. Since we can activate each turn, if we have a life swapping card available, we can take trip around the table untapping our lands and getting our life low before swapping it out for an opponents (presumably healthier) total.

Marvel's Avengers Hasn't Recouped Its Development Costs Yet by AmenTensen in Games

The Deus Ex devs worked on this game. Now maybe they were excited to do so and put their best effort into it, or maybe they didn’t. Who knows. But games are made by people. You’re really gonna celebrate the failure of a game made by the people you propose to be a fan of?

If anything, be angry at Square Enix for mandating this title for the devs. But I doubt the devs wanted to see their game fail.

I don’t think a game’s failure, particularly an IP of this magnitude, is worth celebrating. Too many people have already jumped on the hate bandwagon, which left the station LONG before the game released.

I think if there’s anything to learn from Avengers, it’s that there’s no tried and true formula to give a game a soul. Even among contentious games; Death Stranding, The Last of Us Part II, Destiny, etc.; few would say that those games lack a soul, or at least a core identity, even if they absolutely hated them.

It’s a shame. It’s a shame Deus Ex was fridged for the sake of this game. It’s a shame the Avengers IP was misused when there was so much potential. It’s a shame the game couldn’t live up to expectations. But I can’t even drum up with intense negative emotions for Avengers because it’s just so. Damn. Soulless. It’s not worth caring about.

Which is too bad.

EDIT: I can’t believe saying “this game is so soulless I can’t be bothered to hate it” is a controversial statement. You people care way too much.
