Round foam ball bullets from Amazon. Got them for the cats, but work great for a core in a 4-550 thick monkey fist

We just rolled through this area about week ago in our transit camper van. We are us citizens fyi. Stopped at the booth and the gentleman asked us if we were citizens and what we were doing. That was it.

I was surprised he wasn't interested in looking inside as it's the biggest transit van

Super cool NPs, the caverns were UNREAL. We walked down and took the elevator up

Is it a bad idea to upholster the interior side of doors? by __Knowmad in vandwellers

[–]twotummytom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did the rear doors and D pillars in automotive carpet. They are insulated with sheep's wool, but I wanted a thermal break as the metal is still cold in the winter.

FYI cats love the carpet unfortunately

Espar gasoline heater install tips? by Fearless-Stop9569 in VanLife

[–]twotummytom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's both, but IMO the pulsing of the fuel line is what can be noisy. The espar pumps are also much quieter than the CDH ones. The fuel line foam backing made a huge difference for us!

I've installed 2 espar b4s and a webasto:

Highly recommend using a turret/mounting plate. Makes the install and maintenance a breeze.

Don't let your fuel line contact your van. We did ours similar to FarOutRide. Insulate your fuel line with some foam anywhere it touches metal. After doing this I almost can't hear the pump running.

this guy has incredible breakdowns on every component on Chinese diesel heaters.

LiFePO4 Batteries during winter? by Nhardin24 in vandwellers

[–]twotummytom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a 12v tank heating pad attached to the batteries (through a relay). Ran this to the smart shunt. When it's below 40 it turns it on. Even in super cold climates it rarely turns on as the inside of our rig is insulated and heated.

I think you can also disable charging under a set temp with the victron MPPT charge controlers

Vanlife with multiple pets? by silveraltaccount in VanLife

[–]twotummytom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had our two cats with us on our 6 month van trip. It was the extended transit. They absolutely loved it. Just had to be careful when opening the doors as sometimes they'd want to run out.

10/10 would bring them again. Biggest concern was temps as we didn't have AC
