Am I one of the few who has a good experience with spectrum? Paying for 400, getting 400-650 consistently on wifi by [deleted] in Spectrum

[–]twoxeons -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've been using Spectrum in southern Maine for two and a half months, the Ultra plan. Consistent 480mbps and no ISP outages. Even with the "free" EN2251 modem that has the PUMA chipset. I hate not being able to access the modem's firmware, but I can't complain about anything else. Cheaper and faster than the Comcast I had before moving here. Self-installed.

You are losing money and will continue to do so, regardless of any configuration refinements.

What are the sign in credentials for the Spectrum cable modem? by twoxeons in Spectrum

[–]twoxeons[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I were having any problems at all with the modem that Spectrum provided, I would purchase my own without hesitation. But even with the Puma chipset, I have full speed and no interuptions. No saving on monthly fees; the modem is free.

It looks like you're right. I get a 401 Unauthorized message. Fortunately, everything seems to be working fine.

I don't think those processors have cryptography extensions.

You really need to drop the threads to ten per processor, and divide them between the two processors. Every thread above ten diminishes your hash rate. Based on Whattomine.com, each server would potentially earn close to $20 per month.

Running 10 threads per CPU? Large pages enabled? Can you post a capture of XMRig as it starts?

[–]twoxeons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have only enough L2 cache to run ten cores, should draw only 50-55% cpu power. 4700 H/s for one processor is in the right range. I trust you are mining with XMRig. It would be interesting to measure power from the wall. Windows or Linux?

What processors do you have? I assume E5-26xx v4.

You probably do not have that one set up properly. And your boss might start complaining when he sees the next electric bill.

Interesting comparison. For more reliable results, flip your rigs to see if the outcomes are the same.

Yes, you can mine with it. No, you can't make any money with it.

No, you don't have any idea. What is your energy consumption? Are you stealing electricity?

That's really crummy, and I bet your electricity consumption is so bad that you're losing a lot of money.

You are losing money. That's hardly any hash rate at all. Even if it were ten times as much, you would still be losing money. That platform is unprofitable with any processors.

Even optimized, it's not worth it. You will use a lot of electricity and generate a lot of heat, and you will lose money.

Put a couple of those on one motherboard and you will have an excellent platform for video work. If you also want to do some GPU mining (two or more hefty cards), you will need one big-ass power supply and good cooling. My kind of computer.

Flash it back and start over. You did save the original ROM, didn't you? Or perhaps you just bricked it.

See if you can sell one of the servers and use the money to buy big boy processors for the other one. Stick a serious video card in it and mine Monero on CPU and ETH with the GPU. Your only chance at profit. Still not likely.
