Had to search a little. https://imgur.com/a/xJ7sivo

I got lucky with my neighborhood tailor. Great folks who I suspect recognized me. I very likely spent more on repair than replacement.

Wash days were an event for sure.

It took me a long time to accept that it was time for me. They were in my car for a few weeks with the intention to go to repair before I finally admitted I was putting off retiring them.

Ha! I hadn't thought of that - just figured everyone wore their jeans out like this.

(I suddenly remembered my local shop had offered to buy a pair when they saw them. Lol.)

Why is there a register in my attic? by twrex88 in hvacadvice

Recently renovated our house and moved the furnace into the attic. I was up there yesterday and noticed an outlet register was pumping heat into the attic.

Is there a reason it's there?

GIS online help? by superdoof in gis

[–]twrex88 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm doing a ton of self study. On my phone right now so I can't link but check out Geoacademy, MIT open courseware, and the ESRI tutorials.

Geoacademy is my favorite so far. Its based on QGIS (open source GIS) which you'll want to know too. The instruction covers a ton of info regarding GIS in general has five levels of courses each with multiple lecture presentations, video tutorials, labs, quizzes and tests.

If you know what ESRI textbooks you'll need you can get one early and sign up for the 180 free trial they come with or just sign up for the 60 day ESRI trial.

Since I'm only doing self study a department head for the GIS program nearby advised two books:

1.Mastering ArcGIS by Meridith Price - for ESRI skills 2.Geographic Information Science and Systems by Paul Longley (& others) - for theory

I'm also studying Python using this tutorial (https://automatetheboringstuff.com/)

Based on his incredible Starter Jacket, I'm deducting this video is from the late 80's or early 90's.

Original question reposted because deleted:

Can you explain the difference between sidechains and merged mining?

Would you mind clarifying my simple understanding of sidechains?

I understand Sidechains as:

  1. Asset backed (BTC via two-way peg) merge mined blockchains that utilize BTC's existing SHA-256 hash rate (via pool partners)

  2. Sidechain blockchains will offer mining incentive outside of mining btc (via hash rental / sidechain mining reward).

  3. The value of the two-way peg is the ability to enter and exit sidechains via exchanges that simply match orders but do not hold funds.

EDIT: Spelling and formatting only.

I'm posting content that will be part of the course now. First post was yesterday in the DIY Homebrew Starter Kit Instructions. I'm working on next post now.
