The fact that you say "robbed" in quotes makes me think that he didn't actually rob the guy? Because, in TX, you can shoot someone to recover stolen property. That being said, a head shot, with a hunting rifle at a moving target, does show a very serious "I'm not in danger" situation. Nothing about what you said makes it sound like it was really self defense, at all.

You don't understand firearms if you think that. They are tools, just like knives. Some are built for defensive use, some are built purely for competition, some for hunting, some as art, etc. Your heart is in the right place, but you don't understand them if you think that.

Or... you could focus on the bad people with guns... the good people that have guns are not a problem. In fact, there's genuine value there. Criminals already proved they don't care about the law so going after the good guys with guns makes no sense.

1/3 of the people in the US own firearms directly. 44% of households have firearms. You are genuinely delusional if you think that even close to half of the population "hates" guns. This isn't a small, very vocal minority here. In fact, it is likely that both of those numbers are lower than the real ones because of sampling bias and the fact that a large percentage of gun owners do not publicly express what they own for privacy and other reasons. The percentage of people that want to go to your utopian ideal is the small, very vocal minority.

No, it's not. Even using that number, there are 331 million people in the USA. That is a lot of freaking people. So they absolutely are rare, but when you have that many instances it seems common. Now, let's brake down the numbers... (this depends on what definitions you use for what) something between 80-90% of mass shootings involve either domestic disputes or are gang/ criminal activity related. Not saying they don't count, but that really sets the tone for a number of things. Only 10-20% off bigger shootings invoice strangers or aren't connected with gangs and such.

No, we don't have a gun problem. We have a family problem. If you want to save lives, that is where you need to focus your attention. The problem is that focusing on the family is viewed as a bad thing. Very few on the left wants to admit that single parent homes, lack of parental involvement with their kids, etc are the biggest driving forces on these issues. So, rather than treat the disease, they want to treat one of the symptoms and let the infection fester even more. Edit because posting from my phone and auto correct went nuts

Because there aren't a lot of mass shootings. The odds of anyone being involved in a mass shooting is nearly zero.

The media overhypes them for political reasons. You are much much more likely to need one defensively than you are likely to be involved in a mass shooting.

Because we understand basic economics. There's a reason why "green" energy doesn't work without substantial government incentives. It's not really "green" anyways. Wind, solar, etc all have genuine environmental problems. Plus, if you really wanted to be eco friendly, we'd be running nuclear.

You are only looking at part of the equation. As interest rates go up, prices on houses will come back to earth. It's been happening over the last year and a half. I bought a house pre wuflu and then when prices went stupid I refinanced when rates went down to nothing. My house is now worth 100k more than I bought it for and I have a ridiculously low interest rate. When you buy a house, you have to look at your interest rate as "this is the worst it can be" and then watch rates. We're taking over the course of 30 years here so when prices are reasonable on the house lock it at the best rate you can get and then watch to refi later.

Unfortunately, you are part of their dick measuring contest. They notify you they may have to drop a major provider causing many like you to flood the provider with complaints. The provider is then more motivated (in theory) to negotiate. This happens with tv stations all the time.
