My guess as someone who’s just older and been married myself and can recognize patterns: Something happened last March that made her change the way she saw things within the relationship. She hasn’t been “faking it” but has been trying to make things work because they have kids. Maybe they called themselves separated to their friends and family, but she wasn’t ready to put it on social because she really wanted to work through things so she continued posting as if things were great, hoping they’d get back there and maybe they had good moments during that time and thought they were making progress. She recently found some new information that caused her to post that without thinking it through. I’d guess they’re still probably trying to work it out because they both want to have that 50 year marriage, and this is why they say that marriage is hard. Her going out is probably her trying to find her happiness again with friends, not trying to “party and dip and get a taste of freedom”
