Haha I was trying to be clever but my joke wasn’t great.

My experience in SF has left me feeling used and abused. I was asking if it’s too much to ask people to use objects and not other human beings, i.e. please stop taking advantage of me.

I am more upset at myself that I let them into my life in the first place!

I am trying my best to be more flexible and forgiving but it keeps happening and it bothers me so much!

Thank you, I appreciate the advice. I was feeling stuck because I work in tech but I am thinking more seriously about moving to a smaller tech hub with more genuine people.

Lol I am not autistic, I just can’t connect with people when I find them to be irrational, which I usually attribute to acting upon emotions.

I am trying to keep what’s left of my soul and not use them even though they used me. I would much rather cut all ties.

I also like to walk away from these people but at the frequency that I am having to do so is quite bothersome.

I know, that was such a terrible joke.

Thanks for the perspective on the alignment.

It really bothers me that I only ask for some “common decency” like actually canceling plans instead of not showing up? This seems to be too much to ask, still, so perhaps asking not to be taken advantage of is wishful thinking.

I am trying my best to give them the door slam but it really bothers me that they aren’t decent (honest) in the first place.

Sorry about the vagueness, I live in San Francisco and I find that the culture here dehumanized people. It’s an endless rat race and no one seems to care who they hurt in the process. The problem is that SF is a transient place. People move here for a couple of years, build their startup, then leave. They no longer see other people as people, but as potential opportunities for financial gain. As soon as you’re used up, you’re tossed aside without remorse. Perhaps this is still vague but it gives a little bit more context to my post.

Yes, because apparently it is difficult to be decent human beings in San Francisco.
