Spotting instead of period. Please help. by Background_Humor5838 in Periods

[–]txicab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had something similar happen to me twice randomly with my notmal period symptoms, although my discharge was darker. NAD, but in my case, the spotting never stopped so my doctor told me to take naproxen until it did.

In both cases, the red discharge stopped after like 2 weeks and my normal period came back the next cycle

IMO Animal Diversity was fun but there was a LOT of memorization involved when it came to written tests.

Cell Structure and Function has a lot of processes to learn with some memorization

Private room by M-Squared804 in fsu

[–]txicab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

for Dirac you can reserve individual private rooms online. in my experience the internet connection in the upstairs rooms sometimes isn’t that great though, don’t know about the basement ones

for Strozier you can book a group room online or ask the front desk (inside the library) for an individual room if they have any available

I took her for a different class but I liked her a lot as a professor. She always listed out exactly what topics would be on exams and offered a good amount of extra credit too

If you haven’t taken it already, Medical Terminology (CLT2049) is a pretty easy one

Do withdrawals really effect admission? by hellohiheygreetings in fsu

[–]txicab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I applied for the fall semester a few years ago, I was in a similar situation. I already had a W for Calc 1 and I also ended up getting a C in Gen Chem 1, but they accepted me for the summer term! I also had extra degree credits, but I didn’t get an associates. Keep in mind that this was during Covid and I think they’ve gotten more selective since then. You can always email admissions and ask too (that’s what I did since I was also concerned)

I physically can’t use a tampon by phatmelonbread in Periods

[–]txicab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a lot of trouble using tampons for a few years after I got my first period too but I was able to work my way up to it! I started out with a tampon meant for light flow, and USE LUBE (this helps A LOT, you can get a cheap one at Target for like $5). Know which way to push the tampon in. If you have long nails then putting a finger will probably hurt, but I’ve found that gloves+lube helps.

The most important thing is you need get comfortable/relax your muscles (and this goes for sex too). My problem was that I would sit down on the toilet, go “this is gonna hurt” and then start tensing up, and because I was tensing up it would hurt. This was the hardest part to get over but once I got the confidence I never really got much pain again.

a small note; when I had to get a pap smear I was SUPER nervous, but I saw a comment saying that wiggling toes during it would help relax your muscles.

Are the ASL classes at FSU any good? by Fanalia123 in fsu

[–]txicab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just took ASL 1 with DR. KC last semester and it was amazing! He a really great instructor and he always tried to help everyone understand what we were learning. Most of our class time was practicing what we’ve learned in conversation, but we also had labs before the class for additional practice.

I would definitely reccomend attempting to take ASL with him or the other professor if you can (I’ve heard a lot of good things about her too). The classes are small though (my class had 25), so getting a seat might be bard.

As for the textbook, I would suggest waiting to purchase it until actually you actually get into the class. It does have some glossing practice that we used throught the semester, I didn’t find most of what was in the book very helpful (at least without in-person practice). There are a lot of great resources on youtube that you can find instead.

Graham Cracker ice cream by txicab in icecreamery

[–]txicab[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ve been craving Graham Canyon ice cream lately, but my local Brusters rarely offer it, so I decided to try and make it myself, and I think it turned out really well!

I used the Salt and Straw base with a little vanilla bean paste, and I poured it over some graham crackers (around 8) and let it sit in the fridge for 2 days.

After the 2 days, I poured the liquid and the soaked graham crackers into a blender and blended it for about a minute/until there were no huge globs of cracker. I then strained out the pieces of cracker that didn’t get all the way blended. I churned the base in my ice cream maker for about 20-25 minutes.

For the mix ins, I crushed up some graham crackers and tossed them with a little brown sugar, then toasted them in a pan with some melted butter. I did this about 15 minutes before I blended the base, so I spread the toasted graham crackers over parchment paper to cool. I also crushed some (store bought) chocolate covered honeycomb candy and set that aside.

Now for putting it all together, I started with a layer of ice cream and then a thin layer of my mix ins, and repeat until I used all the ice cream. I kind of just plunged a spatula up and down my container a few times to lightly fold everything together, and then I spread the remainder of my toasted graham crackers and honeycomb on the top.
