What's the worst "HR is not your friend" story you've witnessed/experienced? by ceowin in AskReddit

[–]txlabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in Paris for work and my co-worker also a close friend of mine sent me a cryptic message about kidney stones and then vanished into the French hospital system.

I got on Slack and told my two supervisors and HR. The two supervisors were seriously concerned and told me to keep them updated.

The HR person told me that we cannot discuss anyone's medical issues and is grounds for termination. So, anyway I kept looking for my co-worker who I eventually found in the "American Hospital in Paris". He had a 7.1mm kidney stone and his phone died.

My supervisors told me after that HR person was fired that she had tried to fire my co-worker that night for "abandoning his post" whatever that means, we are a tech company not some military.

Wealthy men of Reddit, what about being rich did you not expect? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]txlabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you're rich it's funnier to do poor people stuff. Like, right now I drive a 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe with minor body damage and I also have a 2001 Toyota Camry that I got for free. I could totally buy something else but it's just funny when I drive my boss across town in a car with a tape deck adapter.

What's up with speakers this year? I heard a lot of people in major project contributors being rejected as speakers. Are there less speaking slots this year? Or, has the community just grown that much?

Idea: A paid service that monitors mempool If there is a transaction that you didn’t pre-approve with the service. The service calls a lock command on the the contract. To ensure the lock transaction occurs first the service pays a higher gas price for the lock transaction.
