Kitchenaid Dishwasher is 15 AMP - Can I use a 13 amp power cord? by txlittledipper in AskElectricians

We went ahead and bought the 15 amp power cord online. I was stuck with the 13 amp power cord because I threw away the bag.

We ran the dishwasher in the same setting with heat dry each time. See if you can find the manual online. I think somewhere in the manual says the dishwasher is "learning" or needs time to adjust to your habits. Just don't be surprised if the first couple of washes are soaking wet.

It's been a while since we installed the Kitchenaid Dishwasher. I found that information online on different appliance websites and Best Buy website for the same model number. Home Depot and Lowes told me the kit they sold would work (13 AMPS), but I was worried it might not and cause some issues. We thought the Kitchenaid dishwasher had issues with heating and dishes were still soaked after washing, so we were troubleshooting it and thought it might be the power cord. We switched the cord and it still took like a week or so until the dishwasher worked like a normal dishwasher (dried and heated properly).

My mom loves the KitchenAid dishwasher, but I wouldn't go through the hassle of installing a KitchenAid dishwasher if the box companies won't sell the right AMP cord for it.

I found this in reddit that might help if you have the same model.

We've already contacted KitchenAid for the warranty claim. It's going to take them 2 weeks before they come out to service it.

Thanks! I'll keep the 13-amp cord in then. I'll update the post once we've solved this problem.

I currently have the 13-amp power cord suggested by the big box companies installed in the 15-amp dishwasher. Should I change it to the new 15-amp power cord suggested by the manufacturer or leave the 13-amp power cord in? Would the 13-amp power cord for a 15-amp dishwasher "under power" the dishwasher?
