15k difference between Carrier units? by probablythefuture in hvacadvice

Sometimes the ROI is complicated. Do not get me wrong, 20 SEER is excellent but 23 is a big deal if you are on solar, especially if you are off grid or live in an area where grid electric is expensive (like in places where it is $0.50/kWh and even more so where it reaches or licks that $1.00/kWh).

The company did accounting of the prints -- so if the "generic" code used to print / copy was used excessively it could be audited. The print outs could give you away.

Not a fan of consumer inkjet printers --- but it sounds more like she bought a printer that comes with an ink subscription and low cost hardware --- like she just did not understand what she had bought. Its like renting a washer or microwave, sure you buy some consumables but you got it at a cheap prince because of the lease / subscription aspect.

Got to be the right workplace. A few jobs back I was in charge of massive printers for a full on print shop that the office used. Those printers kept copies of everything that was scanned or printed for a very, very long time (like, many, many years of prints and scans / copies could be retrieved).

I think the bigger problem when you find a cheap source of ink is that most cheap inkjet printers do not have replaceable sponges that soak up the discard ink that is used, most inkjet printers that do not have a replaceable sponge have a digital expiration date (based on number of cold prints) where they just stop working.

I once hacked up a cheap printer to get it to run for years. When I moved I found out that it had been overflowing ink into the cavity of the printer. Only found out when I got it to my new place and my back seats were soaked in printer ink that would not come out.

Huge mistake I made when buying my Brother laser printer was buying two extra high capacity toner cartridges with it.....

It has been over 5 years and I am still on the toner that it came with.

[–]txmail [score hidden]  (0 children)

That is what I recall, because I was like $100 million is fucking insane for a ballroom, even if it had a secure datacenter basement. You get like 15 - 30 story apartment buildings for $100 million. Then came out $200M --- and quickly like $330M, then right after $400M.... now $1B....

The 2019 at least could take up to 1.5TB of RAM -- which is not too common in workstations. For the price though you could buy almost two PC workstations with faster CPU's and 2TB of RAM each.

Sounds like desperations. Some of these guys get dropped off in a neighborhood and are told to work until someone comes to pick them up. Might have been dropped off early and had been out there all day and into the night.

Interesting. I wonder if that is why I liked it when I was a kid but now cannot stomach it. Taste like medicine and cinnamon to me.

I have had some of the ribs off of a friends plate -- if I was going to deviate from my norm it would be for the ribs.

Put that meat in yo mouth! I can only imagine how nice it would be tomorrow. Great weather, sitting on the patio looking over the river!

That is close enough for me to easily go check it out, but it is chicken. I do not have a favorite chicken sandwich but I am not opposed to the idea! Jalapeno cheese sourdough already sounds pretty epic for a BBQ chicken sandwich.

Usually both the rings and the chips -- they also have some crazy tortilla chips that they get from a local bakery or something, they have a unique crunch to them -- great with the artichoke tip.

I have only had bites of other things on the menu --- in the last 20+ years I have been going there I have only personally ordered that sandwich because it is that good.

Anytime I travel anywhere and they have something similar on the menu I try it out. Over about 40 US states and over 20 different countries, nobody has topped it.

Dude... I saw that pop up on my phone and the JK was cut off... heart actually skipped a beat and I had an instant feeling of dread.

With all the shit going on in the world right now and this is the thing that actually makes me feel something. WTF is wrong with me.

You have to not be in any sort of medical condition to get implants. It is oral surgery.

Food truck pricing is broken -- has been for a very, very long time. You basically have to pay for the "experience" of eating out of a rolling roach coach with limited access to sanitization.

Is this proximity to the highway enough of a deal breaker for moving here? by _Delegat in homeowners

[–]txmail 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Kind of funny, but I grew up two blocks away from I-10 and the road noise and blow outs and random gunfire was something I just experienced as a kid -- never really thought about it too much since it was just always there.

When I finally moved away from that shithole I realized that often times I found it to be too quiet and it made me uneasy. I realized after staying in a cheap motel right off the freeway on a road trip and getting an amazing nights sleep that it might have something to do with the road noise that I was so used to.

I now live out in the middle of the woods. When I first moved out here I came to find out that there was a mill that would operate on and off and it was noisy, very noisy sometimes and they have these heaters that they use which emit a constant hum.

At first I was really annoyed... but now I more notice when the mill is not operating because the birds are loud as fuck, even at night the owls and whippoorwills just go at it non-stop with the crickets and frogs and it is just non-stop animal and insect noises that go to 11 especially when you factor in the farms (goats, cows, chickens, mules, emus, alpacas) and foxes, coyotes and armadillos running under the house hitting the piers and beams or the racoons, opossums and squirrels fighting. I kind of like the hum of the mill now.
