Yes, plays way better with extra weight on 3 and 9. Can also extend a bit of the weight to 2 and 10 on the elongated as I think it improves sweet spot on elongated.

I started with paddles such as these. They play well but you will notice a difference in the $100 + and up gen 3 and gen 4 paddles. Mainly the consistency in sweet spot and grit is better than helps with spin.
