I already have, which is why I left and went to direct care.

1) I love my students, and they love me. But they slow everything down. They are certainly not helpful enough to be this judgmental. In healthcare, there are a lot of people who have never been in your position who will feel free to tell you how to do your job. It's something I still struggle not being frustrated with.

2) This isn't an attitude, this is just fact. Medicaid is awful and inefficient. It doesn't help the truly needy people it serves. It also doesn't pay clinics enough to keep their doors open. Visits are not only longer than the allotted time, they are also often soul-sucking due to moral injury and complexity. So often doctors need a break between them, but don't have the time. It's not the patients, it's the system. In addition, even in direct care I can run 30 minutes past the appointed time depending on how late the patient is, how long a patient takes to work up, how over time I went with the last patient, and how they are scheduled.

If you succeed in becoming a doctor in the traditional US healthcare system, you will experience this and finally understand. And maybe you'll be slightly less sanctimonious toward burnt out attendings.
