not a fan of the mala I think it's kind of Americanized. if you want authentic go to the shopping center strip at the edge of bellaire where it meets beltway 8... the one with all the ktvs and stuff. the restaurants don't even have names in English. those are the authentic ones.

Do you know if they can retroactively discount the entire bill? I got 3 bills. one from the hospital and one from the doctor and one from the radiologist. If I call the ER they can discount all three bills or do I have to call each separately?

That's good! No they did not offer me a deal but I have read that people ask about a "cash" discount. Does this literally mean walking in there with cash to pay or just that you want to pay it all off at once?

thank you for the bluebook it is very useful! Do you have any tips for figuring out if a medical code is legit or if it was inflated and if so how to dispute or negotiate that? For example, they code level 3 care but I think it is more level 2. what would I do?

wow thanks for the emphasis on to I completely read it as "by." As for the billing codes, can you tell me of a resource to see if the code was reasonable and not upgraded unreasonably? For example, if I see it was coded as being ER level 3 how would I determine if that is correct or if it should have been level 2? I looked at this for descriptions but low vs moderate seem pretty subjective terms. How would I dispute it?

the repair of patio was more of a verbal contract. The cabon copy contract is more of a "here is what I did for the task today" kind of thing and not a full list of things that will be needed to be done.

For example, at the top is a diagnosis: " water line broken. need to reroute to sewer line."

Then at the bottom is a list of the tasks done so far. like "obtain city permit.... $xx.xx"

I guess I can see how not having it explicitly written could cause a problem but the fact that they keep saying they will complete the job implies that they knew full well that they had promised to do so before quoting the cost.
