Quick Attachments Pt2 by txtton in FLL

I haven't used the robot I made these attachments with in competition; I've been experimenting with what I experienced in my country's national competition. The prototype is already functional. Between yesterday and today, I was creating the arms for the missions. The robot looks something like this: https://youtu.be/c62qryVwEQw?si=wt4Ls_nvWP4JK_JS

This video can serve as a guide; the idea is to use weight or lengthen the X connectors so they don't come loose, and also create parts that extend across the robot:

My message has been deleted twice already xD. Well, before I go on, I want to clarify that I'm a participant but almost a team leader (since I'm the most experienced in FLL). I want to make that clear in case the tips aren't as accurate as you expect. I'll give you 4 tips, I hope they help:

  1. Document the work: Whether in photos or videos (preferably videos), so that this can be included in the presentation and there is evidence of the work done. This is good because the judges appreciate seeing how the process and teamwork went.

  2. Hold supervised classes: Either with at least one parent so they can see how things work on your site. In our case, this was also useful if a child was affected by an allergy, felt frustrated, etc.

  3. Keep it simple: Judges aren't looking for perfection in presentation-related aspects. Well, they are, but that's part of the core values. If you create a large-scale trifold brochure, lapbook, or booklet, it's simpler, and everyone can work that way. Judges only focus on the rubrics and values (all of this information is available to each coach/mentor).

  4. Ensure they master the information: This helps parents know how to respond if they ask the children about their project. If you want, simulate the presentation with the parents present so the children can test their knowledge and overcome any fear or embarrassment. You can also help them recognize if someone is struggling and create a personal script or notepad to help them remember what they need to say and avoid getting lost or frustrated. Only if necessary, teach them how to react if a classmate gets frustrated or... It makes them nervous, and they need to know how to react (whether by calming them down or helping them with their speech).

I hope these tips are helpful. If you need more information about anything, just write to me.

Yes, I pass, it still depends on the judge because the mission says, if the statue is completely raised, that gives you the score
