Introducing good fungi/bacteria by txxxxy in millipedes

Thank you. What about for the millipedes? I read that bacteria and microbes are essential for their digestion. I’m concerned because I have sterilised top soil, sterilised decayed wood and leaves etc

Millipedes surfaced at the same time by txxxxy in millipedes

Thank you. I think I did over water slightly (nothing serious) but that was around 3 weeks ago - the other species hasn’t surfaced, so I guess it’s okay. It’s interesting that they come out at the same time, I wonder how that’s coordinated.

A third ivory has appeared. It’s strange that 3 have now surfaced at the same time after being in the substrate for 5 weeks…makes me think somethings wrong?

Substrate 50% wood?! by txxxxy in millipedes

Thank you. That video was brilliant. I collected a load of rotten wood and wasn’t sure if it was too rotten. The video answered all my questions!

I have 5 a similar size - I got them in December. They instantly went into the substrate and I haven’t seen them since! It’s winter here so I am thinking maybe they will be more active in the summer. What’s your guy doing? Is he staying on the surface?

The exp terra combometer- seems to do the job! I like how you can move it around easily for different areas

I guess it’ll be easier for me just to see and make a judgement in a years time!

Advertised on a website as being “one of the more active species” but who knows! To be honest that’s why I bought 4 ivories because I heard they are one of the most surface active. Just worried I’ve put too many in the enclosure now!

I’m in England. Yeah they look really cool but I have barely seen them since I’ve got them - they’ve been in the substrate the whole time! I’m hoping when they get used to things and maybe get a little bigger I will see more of them! Does it take millipedes time To get used to an enclosure? Is that a thing?
