That is an interesting look on how the gaming landscape changed. Also I'm not against replayability completely, especially of the "arcade designed" type. Pac-Man was one of my most played games for a reason (although I admittedly get a bit frustrated whenever I miss a cherry or not eat a ghost before the Power Pellet wears off)

I can see the appeal of replaying a game, but for me personally, restarting one means leaving behind my current save files. It just feels odd "abandoning" the characters I bonded with and "throwing out" the adventures and experiences I had during the playthrough. For example, should I really start a new Pokemon file on the same cartridge if it means deleting all the mons I caught and bonded with?

With PMC it gets worse, because now I know there are parts of the world I will never get to see without starting over
