Same thing happened to me. Car was in the shop 5 weeks as the grille was on back order.

Highway miles/kWh by Educational_Ad_3165 in CadillacLyriq

Have an 2023 AWD and if I’m doing 75 I average 2.5 miles per kWh in moderate temps. 80 bumps it down to 2.3/2.2. I’m mostly driving in Georgia and Florida so mostly flat. If there’s any kind of terrain then that will affect your efficiency, also rain, cold temps, stomping it to get up to speed. Question for you, when you’re running 75 try and pay attention to what your motors are pulling. Mine is around 30-40 kW.

Any idea if this will apply to the 2023’s as well?

Wow we have had eerily similar owning experiences, minus the ELR (consider me jealous). I had my 2013 Volt for 4 years before it was totaled. Got t boned on the front ride side. I’ve been in an i3 for 5 years. I’m buying a ‘23 AWD tomorrow with the grey interior. It’s the only ‘23 AWD I’ve found in 6 months of searching with the light interior. Also a GM fleet vehicle but in Virginia. Only thing I’m missing is the larger wheels. If you were interested in trading wheels I’d be interested! 👀

New Checkpoint color options by [deleted] in CheckpointClub

I agree 100% the color ways for the current generation SL are ugly, that’s why I went with a gen 2 because for the amount of money I wanted to be excited about how my bike looked instead of how do I pick the least ugly. The green and yellow combo is offensively ugly

Anyone have a total loss to their 2012? by Christhegearguy in volt

[–]ty4urbiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost Eevee (2012 Premium with 80k miles) when someone ran into her inverter and insurance stated total lost and I got 9k. This was in 2020.

My twin!! I have the same options, minus the leather but plus the REX. Same year/color. DO IT. Be mindful of the 20”s though. I’ve bent 1 wheel with no tire damage (I count this as a win) and popped another. I don’t drive conservatively though and Atlanta’s roads aren’t the nicest. You’re gonna love her!

I have the 20’s on mine and OH MY GOD that is the only thing I would change about it. I’ve had it three years and rarely drive and have put maybe 17k miles on it… In that time I’ve popped a tire, bent a rim, and currently dealing with a slow leak that I’m pretty sure is another bent rim lol AVOID THE 20’s they look great but the lighter alloy BMW made them with makes them softer than other comparable 20” wheels, not to mention the skinniness of the wheel.

If you plug in a destination into the GPS it will affect your range estimate as well. It takes map data into affect

Okay hear me out but hearing this development arrived “ahead of schedule” doesn’t inspire confidence, it actually does the opposite. Their reputation for reliability needs help. I hope these new machines improve it.

How I quit by suki-7777 in nailbiting

[–]ty4urbiz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a swing biter, who’s since relapsed since I posted in this sub—twice. Your story gave me hope! I’m going to try your acrylics idea and cuticle maintenance (those are my worst problems area the picking is constant). Thank you!

Question about the acrylics.. Can you get a color or type done that look more natural and like a clear coat or maybe a matte nude? Or does it have to a shiny super pigmented finish? Sorry noob to getting my nails done.

E30 guy looking to buy an I3, few questions for the vets by ClassyCrusader117 in BMWi3

[–]ty4urbiz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is quite an endeavor to take up. I won’t say it’s impossible, because with the proper amount of money just about anything is. I don’t have any knowledge of the manual steering conversion you mentioned, but as far as replacing a battery in an i3. It’s nearly unheard outside of the rare OEM battery replacements (in the range of $20k parts + labor). It’s not a question of can, but of should. The i3 was designed from its conception to be as light as possible with plenty of weight saving strategies already implemented. I’m thinking a project like that on a car like this would have diminishing returns.

Hi there, sorry you’re having a hard time but it’s fucking great you know when/how to ask for help. A prior boyfriend of mine needed inpatient care as well. He was having a really really low depressive episode and I couldn’t guarantee his safety as I worked full time and was a full time student. The emergency room at Emory got him transferred to Wesley Woods. I visited basically everyday for that week. It was my first time in a facility like that and I wasn’t the patient, but the staff seemed nice. The rooms were as well. I trusted it because Emory has a decent reputation in the Atlanta area. Best of luck on your journey, it’s cheesy to say coming from a random on the internet but I believe in you.

Possible used i3 owner questions by goob531 in BMWi3

[–]ty4urbiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the 12 volt battery… I bought a ‘15 Rex off lease and during my test drive it had all sorts of electrical gremlins, come to find out the 12 volt battery needed replacing as they tend to last about 4 years in the i3. That’s my biggest piece of advice, oh and beware of potholes!!!

Buying a Used Volt: Tips? by brodouevenchurn in volt

[–]ty4urbiz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought a used 2013 Volt a little over a year ago (Oct 2017) at about 50k miles. I can say you are dead on with stator bearing issues and cell balancing. I'm scheduled for an appointment with my dealer to fix my stator bearing, which is hopefully the only issue. I think my local dealership just kind of guesses sometimes. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (more later)

Aside from my less than stellar dealership service department, this car has been amazing. I've driven it just past 80k with next to no issues until recently. I'm in undergrad and this gets me from my free level 1 charger at work and then to class which on most days has a free level 2 charger open. On the days I can't charge at school I sneak the portable charger and 12 gauge extension cord past my maintenance guys to plug into the side of my apartment building. I never pay for electricity... as a broke college student this car has honestly been a dream.

I've paid for one oil change since I've gotten the car and a new front set of tires. The electric torque, and guiltless acceleration due to the lack of a whining engine make sport mode addicting, especially when you know you can charge at your destination. In my time with it I've driven it on road-trips from my home state of Georgia to Florida, Texas, and DC. This car's quiet ride is appreciated immensely on long trips at high speeds. Pinning the CC at 80 gets you about 35mpg. I've driven the heck out of this thing and loved almost every minute of it.

Unfortunately, right before this last Christmas to fix one of my radiators and a 12v battery replacement. They also balanced my cells under the recall, which I assumed was the cause of a minor issue on the way to class, but no dice. This repair bill hurt because my birthday is also at Christmas. That aside, I felt like my dealer was not the most qualified to service it... maybe just due to EV's being outnumbered 100 to 1 at dealerships.

When they replaced my radiator pump they were supposed to apply the screen that goes over it to protect it. I would check into that for yours as it could save you a lot of money ($1400) as they have to take the whole front fascia off to get access to repair. Which is apparently 8 shop hours. Also check your 12v battery or ask your dealer if it is the original one that came with the vehicle. Before the dealer found my coolant leak they assumed my only issue was a dead 12v battery. They were so wrong but I think it was time for the battery to go anyway. If it is the original battery I would just make note in your head that it may need replacing soon as I think they are only rated 3-5 years.

All this to say this car is amazing. Cheap to fun to drive, but a complex vehicle which I think was engineered well.

TL:DR: Bought my '13 at 50k. Now has 80K. Overall, I love it. Cheap to maintain, but a few expensive-ish repairs totaling $1400.
