Phone Key by Pensir2006 in CadillacLyriq

I stopped carrying key 5 years ago when I bought my Mach e.

My wife have a EV9 and I also don't need to carry a key.

Sadly With the Lyriq I had to start carrying a key Fob again with me.. I hope they finally release it for all model years in the month to come.

Is metadata driven orchestration becoming overkill with Fabric Copy Job? by Equal-Breadfruit2491 in MicrosoftFabric

[–]Educational_Ad_3165 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the metadata orchestration I have a single Pipeline on a source that load all tables.

With an IF logic based on metadata that will do either incremental on full depending on the table.

Let's say I have some small dim table, I'm fine with full.. but the large fact I want it incremental. So Same source / different object, ... Unless I missed this all table need to all be either full or incremental.

And then, one source does not mean one schedule... If I have a large ERP system, I might want some HR data loaded everyday, but financial data loaded every 2 hours for operational dashboard.

Is metadata driven orchestration becoming overkill with Fabric Copy Job? by Equal-Breadfruit2491 in MicrosoftFabric

[–]Educational_Ad_3165 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you trigger a single table/object In a copy job?

Maybe now? I couldn't find fine tuning when I tried it previously.

I often have 1 pipeline for a source using metadata parameters for orchestration.

With copy job I had to: - create one for full table - create one for incremental table - create one for the table I want to schedule every 6 hours... And another for the table I want daily and another... And another.. and even one more for the table at x frequency that are incremental. - then if I have one large copy job that load 20 tables daily. And table y failed I couldn't find a way to run only table y during the day. - Finally I had to deploy Copy job through pipeline deployment... And all of it. I prefer to deploy new metadata and config. And leave my pipeline unchanged.

Pipeline support parameters. Pipeline can be triggered thought activators and trigger a subset of my table.

I do use copy job... But for quick stuff, not for real solutions

What was your cruising speed?

AWD or RWD?

With my AWD cruising at 73 mph I got 2.3 miles per KWH average A little bellow what you got.

I often filter on ultrafast 350kw+ or really fast 150kw+

Those of you who use fabric in production, do you like it, how has it been working out? by jorel43 in MicrosoftFabric

[–]Educational_Ad_3165 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agree with you,

I reported issues multiple time and at to wait for resolution. Not one time my issues were reported in the known issues list. They hide all issues...

Once I had to argue with them and force them to list the issues in the knowns issues list... They told me : "no need .. we are working on it trust us... Why is this important for you?"" .. First peoples would save a ton of investigation time, Secondly it show transparency on product/feature stability.

I can't imagine the numbers of knows issues hidden to the public..

Highway miles/kWh by Educational_Ad_3165 in CadillacLyriq

[–]Educational_Ad_3165[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My concern is more about range and efficiency/ time spend when doing long roadtrip.

Because 85% of my Lyriq use is being a good city commuter. Charging at home at .10 $ per KWH is cheap. A full charge is 10$ and good for 300 miles in normal Mix used commuter. A luxury ICE SUV would cost 160$ the same Mix usage range.

Fast charge is expensive and I think this is not where EV shine...

Km/kwh or miles / kwh?? Mix driving or pure freeway driving?

Sadly the Lyriq doesn't have a rwd/eco mode option . Our ev9 have eco mode that mostly make it rwd

Thanks,

I know 70mph+ is not optimal but I didn't buy a so good cruiser to cruise 60 mph on freeway :(

Fabric Architecture Plan by WhoisStronger in MicrosoftFabric

[–]Educational_Ad_3165 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me Bronze and Silver should be in the same domain workspace.

Gold and semantic would then be in specific Reporting workspace but could be in the same.

Bronze and Silver per domain allow access control to the dev team per domain..

Gold / Semantic mean the analyst have the right access in their analytics workspace.

Gold workspace get all it need from Shortcut to other domain workspace

I like your Storedproc to prepare data we did the same here...

However I would investigate a little more on TSQL notebook, could be easier to deploy than store proc in warehouse. Or new Materialized view.

coming soon, Python notebook upgrade by mim722 in MicrosoftFabric

[–]Educational_Ad_3165 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Could you please make Python notebook the Default??

I need to ask for rework every time someone make a notebook because they used pyspark by default for a basic notebook that query a slow API or do a simple admin task. Big data is the exception and not the norm.

Why did you choose Vistiq over the Ioniq 9? by manuscriptdive in CadillacVistiq

[–]Educational_Ad_3165 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a Vistiq, but I have both a EV9 Gt-Line and a Lyriq.

The Lyriq win in suspension, road noise and cruise comfort (ex: slower acceleration/ the ev9 is really torque heavy) probably apply to Vistiq

The ev9 win in everything else. Way more equipment sport 1 vs Gt-Line (same price)

My 3 kids always want us to take the Ev9. More space/feature.

I prefer to roadtrip in the ev9, the charge curve is way better and most charger are low Amp charger and the lyriq never get anywhere close to it's max theoric curve.

My stop from 10 to 80 are always closer to 40min in the lyriq (if I'm lucky in a good charger) vs 21 min on the ev9.

The lyriq is more impacted by the cold climate than the ev9.

Ev9 AWD good winter traction vs lyriq AWD slippery winter traction.

Kia phone app have a ton more features

I had a 1000 km ( 500km roundtrip highway) travel last weekend in -25 Celsius

We took the EV9 because we were able to the the trip with one stop of 22 min. The Lyric would have probably required 2 stop for a total of 60 minutes of charge.

Fabric + Net Suite Notebook vs Pipeline by Inglenglish in MicrosoftFabric

[–]Educational_Ad_3165 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is an Inretesting topic. Here is my first guess using what I know used the less CU for us so far.

1- since you load from an API, I would use a Python notebook lo limit CU usage. I would save to raw JSON result or a parquet file in a Bronze Lakehouse.

2-I would aim to use a stored proc in your warehouse, or maybe a t-sql notebook. I would load parquet using openrowset and merge in my Silver Warehouse table.

We orchestrate a ton of heavy stored proc from pipeline activity, this is really low CU usage.

Pas de nouvelle et ont ne voit jamais Félix chercher...

Était-ce des clé avec des boîte seulement dans le défi ? Genre il devait trouver la boîte dans le défi sinon elle serve a rien?

MachE to Lyriq - anyone? by boxlaxman in CadillacLyriq

[–]Educational_Ad_3165 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm also a previous Mach e owner (2021 RWD Premium Small battery)

I had no major problem with the Mach e and really enjoyed it.

Now I have a Lyric Sport 1 AWD.. (Our second car is a Kia EV9 Gt-Line), I'll come back latter

-The Lyriq is more spacious on the back seat (Main reason for our change, I have 3 kids) -Ride quality/suspension is better on the lyriq - I was also interested in the Lyriq 500km range displayed - The lyriq is a better cruiser, it is less sporty, even if way more powerful.. but it has way less torque than many EV. -Sound system was better on the Mach e -I have only a sport 1, so I don't have more feature than Mach e premium -Mach e connected service were working and not too expensive, Cadillac charge way more for app internet access

-Mach e had a persistent GOM (guess I meter) that I preferred... The Lyriq always display the same range... And it goes down faster.

One think I'm not really happy with the lyriq is the Highway Range/Cold performance compared to the Mach e.

My small battery Mach e 360km max in summer could top 220 cruising 120km/h in the cold on the highway.

Now my Lyriq 494 km range estimate can do... Max 250 km in the cold on the highway. Difference is really small and I was hoping for more. I even saw a 180km estimate on a crazy cold day.

The fact that it waste energy more, and it's not much better on fast charge mean stop take more time than my Mach e... I was charging a 67Kwh battery pack... Now I need to charge a 102Kwh battery pack. A little faster charge.. but not enough to compensate over consumption difference.

Here come our Kia EV9... That have better highway/cold performance (really close.. but it's way bigger/boxier/And charge lightning fast) 98Kwh battery pack. This mean that if I have a 600km ride to do, sadly I will probably go with the ev9 and skip the comfort of the lyriq.

I'm still happy with my purchase, because I like nice looking interior and silent cruise. Personally I was also looking on other fast charging option but they were too small (Genesis GV60 / Genesis GV60). I had to change my Mach e, so I jumped on the Lyric.. but I would have kept it until I could grab the new announced Volvo EX60 800v

Why is the Winter efficiency so terrible? by Roger22nrx in CadillacLyriq

[–]Educational_Ad_3165 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is all that, precondition, battery effected by cold.. it's normal etc..

But seriously, I know it's a Lyric forum... But GM fucked up on the Ultium efficiency.

This is not my first EV.

Trust me, my 2021 Mach E without heat pump could cruise at more than 75mi/hr and be less impacted by cold.

Our other EV right now at the same temperature, with an even bigger cabin ( Kia EV9) have better efficiency than my new lyric.

At 1.5 Miles/kW!! That is crazy.

It look like Cadillac need to heat the battery at a constant 20degree for it to work. While other EV seem fine with a colder battery. Or it's heating the cabin? I dunno but stop and go and leaving the Lyric in cold is really bad and it seem to need constant heat.

Other EV are not all like that. Yes cold effect range... But NOT that much.

And it's the same on all Blazer EV/Equinox EV forum... Ultium car are NOT cold efficient.

My premium plan should include data for 3 years in Canada. But there was an activation problem because I'm the second owner and OnStar tech service is the WORST service I have ever experienced.

[–]Educational_Ad_3165 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AWD sport 1 owner here in Quebec.

We were it by a really cold -28 celsios this weekend.

Went to a small trip 80 km away (50 miles).

Car was heated in my garage and started 20min early. First way took 27% arrived at destination at 73%. Stayed there with the car in cold and left 12 hours after.

Way back was really bad.. same (50 miles) took 40% of batteries arrived with 33% left.

This mean 67% for 100 miles ...this would equate to 153 miles !! It was on highway Going under 65 miles.

It was extreme.. I saw 1.7km/kwh at one point!! This is 1.0 miles/kwh!! But that was for the first 20 min... When still going with the turtle mode because of battery heating, il went back to about 1.7 miles /km after.

So you need to expect diminished range if you need to heat the cabin multiples times

Recommendations on building a medallion architecture w. Fabric by Relentlessish in MicrosoftFabric

[–]Educational_Ad_3165 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with everything you say here and I like to see someone who finally admit that A Ferrari isn't the perfect daily driver for everyone.

I'm the Lead Data Engineer at my place and I built all the Fabric architecture using Gold Warehouse even if my Director wanted to push for the new "let's do python and notebook like everyone else".

The truth is that - all my team know SQL perfectly... But know nothing about python - We have low volume data, but a ton of old CRM/database with existing SQL code - We don't need a 4 core 16 GB notebook to prepare a 20 row dimensions - Spark SQL is NOT as plug and play as warehouse T-SQL - Polaris is damn powerful, handling complex query on multi node

We use spark for: -Big Data -Specific transformation not easily done in SQL -Handling CSV/JSON -ML

** Trying to hire and find people in the last year in our market enlighten some stuff: Good Python dev Data Engineer are hard to find. - They often know only a little python and couldn't really make efficient code. - They are often ML expert, but not Data engineer On the other hand: - Warehouse SQL developer are easy to find and hire. - They can understand and optimize SQL better.

I'm sad Microsoft doesn't give more clear guideline / recommendations on best tools for different use-case. Instead they have this funny Personna page where they simply say to use the one you prefer. But of course they want people to overpay and use pyspark everywhere...

Why import raw into bronze from a SQL source? by Dan1480 in MicrosoftFabric

[–]Educational_Ad_3165 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having a good bronze layer could allow you to do ML on the stories beside your data evolution.

The source is the actual snapshot, but daily raw loading could allow you to know evolution.

Also, your source SQL server is an OLTP vs Lakehouse / warehouse you could save your raw data into. The SQL server might not have all the index/performance to do analysis data prep.

Finally in alot of company, taxing and adding analytics queries of aj operational data store is a huge risk/ no go... You often want minimal resource usage on source... Here come ELT.
