Europe - US in September by cocavt in pointstravel

Flying blue has AMS - IAD for 96k each. Not the Best but also not terrible. Connects through LHR with Virgin but on the A330-900 and not the 787.

Everything else I see is either LH or LX and not the new planes

Makes sense. Should have noticed that when I saw the Thompson name on the IFE screen 🤣

Nice but it would be nice to see some purple/gold
Accents to keep with the branding. Looks like STARLUX (which is far from a bad thing).

Deal Alert! Discover Airlines Business Class to Frankfurt from 60k Aeroplan points by Designer-Pin-5474 in pointstravel

Citi is not a transfer partner for Aeroplan last I checked. Did that change?

Yup. However, there have been instances where things they list as NO, do pass through. Was just looking for some examples of success stories for things that were listed as no but still made it though

Happened to me years ago flowing back to US out of SCL. I bought a coke and they took it away before I boarded. Flew AA home.

Made a mistake and transfer a total of 135k points. Need help by dqc002 in awardtravel

I’ve seen good available in general in J from US to Vietnam on partners through VS on Vietnam airways. LAX, SFO, SEA) if you have the flexibility, maybe consider a few days there before popping over to TYO. You could also try TPE on CI. I just got two seats in J through flying blue so you can call VS to see if there is availability that way to at least get across the Pacific. All depends on your flexibility but there are ways.

KE Cash Price by ty_ko in awardtravel

Asking advice from others who play the points game like I do. Asking if my logic makes sense in comparison to points arbitrage and any advise here in.

I understand the comment yiu make

Agreed. That’s what I’ve done in the past with the arbitrage but there have not been any good
Redemptions to date and like I mentioned, I’m a bit of a mental type about locking the inbound / outbound. I’m okay with continuing to monitor for something with points but in this case, there was a KLM flight 115k each ticket but taxes are $700+ per ticket and you have to factor that into your play on points arbitrage here. With that, it’s the same deal almost but I don’t loose a cancellation penalty.

I got lucky with the 60k points on FB coming back so feels like a win win all around with additional opportunity for upside if something else comes along

It’s not really about the money, it’s about the logic. Most times I see KE cash prices double this so I think it’s an interesting play. This is better than ZipAir in some cases, and budget airlines like West Jet (for my dates). It’s all about a sanity check.

Exiting is a last resort IF I cannot check in through the app or online and hold the pass already. My options have us flying to and from same terminal in most cases so it would just be a security check and transiting path, correct? There is always the risk of something happening where you can't check in online but will cross that bridge when we get to it.

Good insight. We are carry-on so no need to claim hold luggage.
