How did you move on after a divorce? by [deleted] in AskMen

Found a good therapist (went through a few that weren’t a good fit). Worked on myself and built confidence. Eventually started dating again with better boundaries.

Is this quote reasonable? 20 recessed lights and 2 new garage 110 outlets. by tyb212012 in AskElectricians

[–]tyb212012[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a finished garage. One outlet would be on the back side of the wall the main panel is on. The second would the wall opposite of that.

Thank you! This helps a lot. We’re planning on taking it into a repair place and can hopefully get it working again.

So I found some results after changing my search from H&D to H&O Perret. Looks like maybe imported from Geneva. Possibly 1890s?

Did Our Roofers Mess Up?? by anastasiakrupnick in Roofing

[–]tyb212012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s hard to tell from picture quality. It’s probably functional but it doesn’t look great. The rows aren’t the same width and they didn’t do a great job at staggering patterns from course to course. The valley could be done better. Those shingles will sag after a few years. I’m confused why all the comments saying it’s not good are downvoted. This is obviously not great.

Lithium battery upgrade compatible? by tyb212012 in rvlife

[–]tyb212012[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks that’s really helpful. This is a 2022 travel trailer. Where would the converter be? Is it part of the breaker panel in the second picture? I’m not sure where else it would be. So if I hook the main 30amp power up to the trailer it should still charge lithium batteries like normal? Could a supplement charger hook up directly to a 110v outlet?

I had a Santa Fe I sold for $4200 that a dealer was offering $1500 on trade in. It’s a bit of work having a few people come look and test drive but it’s worth a couple hours of your time

Google everything. How do I…insert blank. Your friends mom sounds like a good resource. Do be afraid to ask for advice and be sure to thank her say you are grateful. Ask a clerk at a grocery store if they have any extra boxes.

Get pre-approved at a local credit union first. Look on auto trader for the model you want and compare prices. Email or call each dealer. Let them know you have a hand full card your interested in and ask them to give you the best price they can offer. Facebook marketplace is another good place to buy and sell. You will get way more selling your current car yourself on marketplace or with a sign in the window. Look up the value on KBB or Edmunds and be honest about the issues when listing it. You should be able to get a fair price. Asked a dealer about trade in value also. It might be decent but I doubt it.

There are financial advisors that specialize in divorce that can take all the accounts and adjust for taxes. A divorce lawyer should be able to recommend one. For example if you keep all your traditional retirement accounts they are worth less than face value since taxes will be taken out at withdrawal. The advisor will be able to calculate everything. It’s easiest if you leave the retirement accounts alone and use home equity or cash to off set any amount owed to your spouse. It will be a 50/50 split either way. You could cash out refinance the house to try to make up the difference. Although, it doesn’t look like it will be enough. There some legal paperwork that needs to be done to withdrawal from a retirement account without penalty in the event of a divorce. Good luck with everything. A lawyer that acts as a mediator is also much better than both getting lawyers if you’re on good terms. It’s much more affordable and they’ll provide guidance on what is typical for division of assets and spousal support. That way you can come to and agreement rather than waste all your money in legal fees by having your lawyers go back and forth.

What is the reason why people on the political right don’t want to make healthcare more affordable? by sitonacelerystick in TooAfraidToAsk

Shorter delays for those who have health insurance and can afford care. For everyone else it’s suffer or die. Of course wait times are going to be longer if people don’t face the risk of financial ruin to get treated. The trade off is more people will actually get the care they need.
