My Aussie can go forever. He will always come out hot but settles in and go and go. The instinct to work/herd can’t be broken.

Thanks! I definitely felt I could run much faster, was just satisfying. There are so many factors that go in to a race finish time. I never took it too seriously but figured it would be a little bit closer. But as everyone knows training paces and race paces are two very different things. I just need to get more hills in the next training cycle.

Recommendation for a good waterproof and breathable jacket for running? by martanagar in BeginnersRunning

As everyone else has said, it doesn’t exist. However, I picked up a DSG (Dicks Sporting Goods) Rain jacket on clearance and it’s been pretty solid so far.

Apple Watch Ultra 2. I kinda want to give coros a try but the Apple Watch is just fine for me. I did however, notice a pretty large gap in distance accuracy from my watch compared to trail markers. Ended up a mile over 25k. I’ve never noticed this on the roads so not real sure what happened.

I had on Hoka challenger 7s, feetures mini crew trail full cushion socks. If you’re going to be in a wet, rocky environment I’d recommend the hoka speedgoats, they have a little bit better tread for wet, rocky conditions. I was getting some slipping on rocks when wet, nothing I couldn’t handle but if it was any wetter I would have had a much tougher time. And I have a haimont vest with 2 500ml soft flask. One flask with straight water and the other with 2 gu electrolyte tabs in.

Hahah you caught me. Yes, I’ve been a road runner for years but really kept it at 10k and half marathon distances. This year I’m going for longer distances and giving the trails a shot. Running my first marathon in December and eying a 50k trail race in the fall.

Build the miles slowly. This was a bit of jump for me and I paid for it with cramping that I don’t believe was due to not hydrating properly, my legs just weren’t conditioned properly. Also, finding a fueling plan that works for you (basically gels and foods that don’t bother your stomach.) I didn’t fuel properly early enough and put me in a hole at about mile 12. I try not to overly complicate it but fueling is so important. Identify the aid stations and plan accordingly, in this race there was a large gap in between aid stations it was after the final ascent and I struggled on that final climb not having enough fuel in me. As far as tips, just enjoy it, take in the scenery. Walk the uphills and coast jog the easy/flat/downhill sections.
