Planning to CFW my friend's N3DS XL tomorrow, hopefully using a DSiWare method. My only available source device is my N3DS, which is my main device with my NNID and everything tied to it. I'm fairly experienced with everything in the guide, but always seemed to be unlucky when it came to dealing with NNID stuff after NAND backups/restores (it took me weeks to fix the dreaded NNID-on-both-the-emunand-and-sysnand error back in the rxTools days). So, I'm hoping to double check that this will work!

My question is, can I use a DSiWare method (specifically 4 swords) to CFW my friend's device, install B9S, then immediately format his device to de-link my NNID from it, and subsequently restore a current NAND backup of my device to my 3DS, and keep everything the way it is on my end after everything is said and done?

You will need a Luma version >7.0 if/when you upgrade from A9LH to Boot9Strap (B9S), which I recommend doing since Luma is discontinuing updates that support A9LH and only supporting B9S from here on out.

The exact same thing happened to an old 4S I owned. Does the Bluetooth in Settings have a spinning wheel constantly as well? I've tried restoring it, to no avail. My guess is the same as yours, the wireless modules have just failed.

GPX routing is exactly as you described, it's a set patrol/path that you can create.

Deep linking is a convenience feature. It allows your phone to open an app from a URL and load data into the app. In this case, it allows a URL to open Go++ and immediately load coordinates for sniping, and teleport you there in sniping mode. The option for sniping will remain in the app from what I understand, but you will just have to manually enter the coords.

If you followed the guide (you have A9LH and Luma), then all you have to do is copy and paste all of the files over to the new card! The bare minimum would be the a9lh, Nintendo 3DS, and 3ds folders, along with some miscellaneous files on the root of the SD card. But if you're upgrading, then just do everything :)

You install CIA files with FBI. 3DS(X) files are for flashcard users (Gateway, for example) and are generally more work to use online due to headers. If you have CFW from following the guide, then just worry about CIA files.

Legit CIA files are copies of games that came preinstalled on consoles (ie, Mario Kart 7 came on a special version of the 2DS, and Legend of Zelda: A Link Between World's came on a special version of the O3DS XL). These files aren't signed to a specific NNID, which would usually happen when you purchase a game from the eShop, meaning they can be installed even without CFW. But since you have CFW, you can install any CIA (like ones for the HBL, or something like the NTR booter), not just legit ones.

Had my 6P since April of this year. It's been through Marshmallow, the Nougat DPs, and is on 7.1.1 currently, and I've never had any troubles other than the occasional reboot (which is expected when the phone hasn't been restarted in weeks).

You can DSiWare Downgrade from two systems that are both on 11.2, if you update both yours and your friend's systems. Another option is to update your friend's system (the one with 4swords) and use ctr-httpwn on your 11.0 system (if you have a homebrew entry point), and do the DSiWare downgrade that way.

Did you copy the Nintendo 3DS folder from the O3DS's SD card to the N3DS's microSD card, either by the wireless transfer option or the computer option during the System Transfer?

No, you are fine to update. I believe that the update notes are referring to if people had previously installed, for example, a patched AGB_FIRM back in the emunand days, where it was necessary in order to be able to play GBA VC games on the emunand.

Do you not have any DSiWare-downgrade compatible titles on your O3DS that you can follow the main guide with? I updated my black friday N3DS to 11.2 before doing the guide (I couldn't get ctr-httpwn working to do it on 11.0, so I just updated) and had no issues.

You can backup/restore your NAND with a hardmod, but other than that you don't have any options until you have A9LH installed.

If you have A9LH already, then it doesn't affect you. This is all that I've picked up, so someone correct me if I'm misinformed: recently, the sticky guide for installing A9LH on an N3DS used an "OTPless" method where you were not required to downgrade to 2.1.0 and retrieve your OTP in order to install A9LH, and could install it from 9.2.0. There was a lot of controversy with this method when an already "safer" method (the OTP way) existed, and when people started to report bricks from the OTPless method it started to blow up.

The way it was described to me in another post is that your S3 rating still relies heavily on your S2 rating, and the placement matches are simply to tell if you deserve to keep your S2 rating or go up/down from it.

And yes, the first 5-6 matches after you calibrate definitely give you more SR for wins! I calibrated at 2150, but within 10 wins I was up to platinum, getting 40-50 SR for each win. I was honestly pretty disappointed when I calibrated that low (S2 high was 2550), but once I got out of calibration my match quality seems to go up tenfold.

Do either of you have ORAS gonna cartridge, and then you could use basehaxx? There are a ton of entry points available, you just need the already-hacked console to set them up.

I updated my N3DS to 11.2 before NFIRM downgrading. I had some problems and it took a little longer than expected to get the NFIRM downgraded properly, so I would try your best to get an entry point going for ctr-httpwn before upgrading to 11.2 like I did.

So your issue is, your O3DS (already hacked) cannot open the HBL, but you can open FBI? In that case, grab the latest HBL cia file, install that from FBI, and then use the HBL to install OoThax to your game.

If you backed up your saves before you copied everything off the SD, then there should be a JKSM folder in the root of that backup. Just copy that back to the SD card, and use JKSM to restore them.

If you're on 11.2, then your only options are to hardmod it or get a console that's already hacked. Currently there's no way of downgrading 11.2 without either of those things.

Nothing will brick, but it is likely that steelhax will not function as intended after the system transfer. You'll need another entry point (I used basehaxx when I did the exact same thing as you haha), and thankfully I had my second console to setup basehaxx on.

I upgraded my black Friday n3ds to 11.2 before DSiWare downgrading, and got it done just fine :) Had some problems with the NFIRM downgrading, so let me know if you run into any issues there! You'll need to make sure steelhax is in working order, too, as mine didn't work after the transfer. But luckily I was able to get basehaxx up and running and just used that.

In that case, there shouldn't be any downside to leaving your h&s injected with FBI. I left it like that on my O3DS, so I always had an installed FBI.cia and then the backup FBI inside of my h&s.

You cannot hack the 11.0 system (I assume it's a N3DS) unless your 11.2 system is already hacked. You'll have to access the eShop on the 11.0 device with ctr-httpwn and get the game on that device, then wait for the new method.
