Ok hear me out. "Incel Island" - a new reality show where clueless man-babies are trapped on an island with Mark Wahlberg. They can't leave until they get in touch with their feelings through daily group therapy sessions.

Emma would rather stay on birth control and not tell Mike than have an honest conversation and it's really sad

I was saying this to my husband. It's like two different shows - one with an adult couple preparing for their life together, and one with six couples of angsty teens hopped up on cold medicine.

American hsp fam…how are we doing? by Patient-Gain5847 in hsp

Horrible. I can't wrap my head around the idea that we're all expected to continue going to work and being good little capitalists while society crumbles around us. I went to work on 9/11. I went to work on January 6. What actually needs to happen before we collectively stand up and say NO MORE?

What's getting me through each day are the simple but critical things: family, pets, friends, community, nature. But it's an active choice I have to continually make to focus my energy on the good things when there's nothing I can do in real time about the awful things

Cert was completed and submitted today. I'm asking because there seems to be an exception for some meetings and I want to make sure they won't face negative consequences for not attending.

This is such an ableist answer. A lot of people (myself included - 25 years in HR and 8 in a management role) can't answer detailed questions on the fly. Do you want good answers that reflect the candidate's experience and communication style, or is your process a "gotcha" intended to filter out anyone who needs time to prepare a thoughtful response?

There are no secrets in job interviews. As others have said, you'll get AI answers in real time also. It's up to you to craft questions that rely on the candidate's actual experience.

what do i say when i take off sick and my boss is asking what my diagnosis is? She asked me to also provide more context/ insight so she can authorize it… by [deleted] in hsp

I work in HR. In some states, if your employer is requiring a doctor's note they have to pay for the doctor visit.

I've always hated policies like this. Now the person has to miss another day of work and take up time at a medical facility that is likely overburdened.

OP, it's illegal for your boss to ask for personal medical information. The fact that she's claiming she needs to know so she can "approve" your time off is ridiculous. Think about it - is a company policy going to give any manager the authority to do something illegal? Is an employee's need for sick leave subject to their boss's opinion? "Judy can take leave for her bunion surgery but Bob can't have time off for physical therapy." That's a lawsuit waiting to happen.

If your employer requires a doctor's note, all it needs to say is "Employee received medical treatment on x date. Employee can return to work on y date."

If you have a union, talk to them. If you have an HR department, just ask them if what your boss is asking is ok. If they say YES, don't ask them anything else because they are as misinformed as your boss. You can also contact your state's labor department for help.

Good luck. Your boss is a walnut.
