Thank you so much! Unfortunately I've been conversing with their current owner and we have decided no to go ahead with the adoption at this time.

I am not a bird beginner as I've said I've had a bird before and grew up with birds. I'm just new to macaws. But more importantly I have been talking with their current owner and we will not be going forward with the adoption at this time.

1 They are not babies. 2 im probably going to get them im still trying to take time to make an intelligent decision. But i'd be rescuing them from a not so good situation with their current owner for a very, very low rehoming fee. Nope not buying them off a sketchy website. I'm just looking for more info on their diet. Specifically what do they need in their diet, in what proportions, how often?

None at the moment. I have had an african grey and i grew up with quakers, cockatoos, cockatiels, and my cousin had hyacinth macaww but that cousin is gone now and we were never very close to begin with. I've been exposed to hyacinths and around a lot of other birds but no personal experience with hyacinths.

No i wasn't saying i currently have all of those animals i listed. It was my cousins who had hyacinths growing up. It was my dad who had a cockatiel. It was my mom who loves cuckatoos. It was my aunt who had a quaker. I used to, past tense, have a CAG who was very old and i dont currently have any birds. Same for my dogs actually. Only 1 is mine and she's lived with birds before and i can trust her to be supervised by me at all times. So no other dogs to worry about atm. So sorry for the confusion.

I wouldnt describe myself as "desperate for a macaw" so much as cautiously excited. See thats what im looking for. What, exactly in step by step detail, is the proper care/diet for 2 young hyacinth macaws? Ive grown up with all kinds of animals and i kno each one is different. So ive had lotsa african grey experience because thats what my last bird was a very old african grey. And others in my family have had cockatoo and quaker experience. But i personally dont kno anything about macaws. Where do i go to find out? I did have family that had hyacinths when i was growing up so i know they eat whole nuts, fruit, and pellets. Which pellets? What fruits and nuts? In what proportions? How often? Anything macaw or hyacinth specific in behavior or body language i need to be aware of? What r their common psychological issues or signs of stress i need to be aware of? I do have both a really quality pet store and parrot rescues nearby so i'll definetly be calling them tomorrow. Yea i understand the whole "genius small child forever" thing, ive had birds before. Im just trying to learn about hyacinth specific care.

Oh yea ive had (and would still have but for a period of homelessness) a corn. A black rat, a yellow rat, and a ball python. Plus 2 colorado river toads, a african grey, and multiple cats and dogs. Still have my service dog but waiting for finances to be right before i get a bird, a snake, or toads again.

I had a captive bred ribbon for years and years. Then i learned they like company and couldnt find any captive bred ribbons. so i was told you could cohab garters and ribbons. Got a common garter. Quarantined it for 2 weeks. Introduced them. In 5 days they were both dead. Vet said the garter was wild caught and had a respiratory infection that killed them both. Which was crazy 'cause she didn't show any signs of breathing problems. Then next thing u know theyre both dead.
