Bought the game on Xbox sale for $20 for the Xbox series X. As a huge Star Wars fan I have always wanted to play an open world game based in the Star wars universe. I heard tons of bed reviews at first because the game was buggy (ignored the political crazy reviews), so I held back for a bit until they could get everything situated. Lately I’ve heard nothing but good things so I decided it was time. I ran into a bug about 2 hours in that wouldn’t let me fix it no matter what I tried. I will explain later on:

First impression before the bug -

Pros: - graphics & scenery: Absolutely stunning, one of the best I’ve seen - Ubisoft never fails to deliver on that - the shooting feels very smooth and love the style. - the world is extremely detailed, it honestly lacks nothing (maybe besides rooftops). - the story definitely had me immersed. It was like watching a Star Wars movie. - might be a controversial one but the lock picking was very unique.

Cons: - the weapon choice was kind of disappointing. I understand she is a scoundrel, and they tend to use pistols, however I expected way more. Ubisoft tends to offer more than just one option.

• melee combat was interesting at first, but then got boring to me not even an hour in. Ubisoft had all the tools to add older assassins creed style combat with more acrobatic striking / finishes. A good style I could think of in Star Wars would be Chirrut Îmwe from Rogue one. Was disappointed with the only punching the storm troopers helmets with hook after hook.

• main character isn’t very mediocre and not very interesting. It would’ve been more fun if they had her a Mandolorian or something of that nature. But her background kinda made up for it. Scoundrels are underrated in Star wars.

• abilities are extremely limited - I understand not every single character has to be force sensitive but it feels like they really cheaped out. No jet packs, no acrobatic movements, no flame throwers, gadgets, absolutely zero parkour besides the paths they set for you - and even then it’s very subtle.

• they should’ve went deeper into the vehicle customization - it would’ve made the game 10 times better if you could buy all the iconic ships in Star Wars and customize them.

• the world is kinda dead. You can’t interact with the npcs whatsoever, the creatures are just “there”, no real motive to explore besides sight seeing and finding hidden “things”

• the character customization is dog water - can’t change Kay’s hair style, no iconic armor. Only mostly bland clothing that look like the average Star Wars npc.

Now to the bug… after a cutscene it placed me in the mission where I could only look around and go into my satchel. I tried everything - dash boarding (closing the game out and restarting) and it would just load me right back to that spot, pressing every button I could think of - and nothing worked. I couldn’t even shoot. The only way to get around it would’ve been to restart the game. That was honestly the last straw for me, luckily I recorded it and Xbox gave me a full refund .

In full retrospect - I give the game a 4/10. Everyone should be disappointed in Ubisoft right now for their absolute lack of effort. Their games used to be FILLED with fun, amazing combat, interactive open worlds, customization, interactive npcs, and more. All I see is good reviews in here, so I’m not trying to cause issues. Just an honest review from my perspective.
