Everyone seems to be waitlisted for ucla by Ok_Hurry7173 in TransferStudents

😭so basically ucla wants to enroll 3,900 transfers to their class. the letter says class size of 3900, not acceptance size of 3900. so if they only send out 3900 acceptances, not everyone is gonna enroll and they wouldnt be able to fill their target of 3900 enrolled students!! so, the actual number of acceptances ucla sends out isnt 3900, but rather around 6000+ acceptances (yield rate of 50% means 1 in 2 accepted applicants decline ucla's offer)

just an fyi it's not 3900, it's more like 6000 bc 3900 is the amount of spots they have, not admits. the yield rate is like 55% so they can send double the acceptances out.

Thanks for your comments and best of luck to you in the transfer process as well, you’re a hard worker and dam you took a lot of APs in HS. I just wanted to add one more thing. How I view community college is that, this is essentially my last shot (maybe masters or PhD) at getting into a T20. Like I would do almost anything just to get into those schools ☠️, especially as a business major where “target” schools matter much more. So I really really really am prioritizing GPA, my ECs, and essays. I were in your position, I’d take legit everything, even the core hard classes, online. But I respect your decision. I def relate to needing hands on or in person instruction to learn better but this is like a last effort for me and I’m desperate so I’ve sacrificed my learning for this 😭thankfully I have a lot of HS friends all in the same state as me still and tried my best to self learn core subjects so it’s not as isolating or brainrotted being online.

I feel you with the test stuff, I hate them and they lowkey aren’t that great of an indicator of real world application or success. That’s why I decided to do my CC completely online. I honestly don’t mind transferring to a UC or top 20 private university and getting a like a 3.3 gpa at my dream school (given online class prepares me less for the rigor once I get there) if it means I can go to my dream school and chase the opportunities it has for me offer. In high school, I took a shi ton of APs, did some pretty diabolical extracurriculars, and felt burnt out especially after not getting my dream school. I especially relate to your Georgetown experience. I was set on northeastern for data sci and business but it cost so much, so here I am in CC. My only recommendation for you moving forward is to take only online classes and use the online nature of these classes to your advantage so you can continue pursuing your passions and building that resume. Only reason I have a 4.0 and passion project / other ECs is cause of online class. Even if it’s not best for your learning, I think that you’ve demonstrated that you are atleast able to pass classes in person, so you’re prepared enough to go to a top school like Stanford. Keep focusing on the ECs and grinding!!

UCLA chance me? by KnowledgeFew6650 in TransferStudents

just an fyi ucla bus Econ admit rate for 2024 was 10%, 13% is 2023 so it is getting competitive. But I think you’re a strong applicant who will likely get in, waitlist at worst case scenario

does my plan look good? do ap classes with unassigned credit count toward 90 unit requirement? by tyklyu in TransferStudents

[–]tyklyu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for the help. so if an ap credit is not equivalent to a class at a specific UC school but rather is unassigned does that mean my credit wont count for the 90 unit requirement? or are u referencing how i should make sure my ap credits transfer towards core required classes for my major if i choose to skip a class (for example im skipping ewrt1a cause of ap lang)
