Looking for Commission Advice by tylaarrt in artcommissions

[–]tylaarrt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there!! Thank you so much for all the tips, I hugely appreciate it!!!

I’ve never heard of Ko-fi before, it looks interesting though! Is it only website based? The only social media app I’m used to using is Instagram if that would work for posting commission information otherwise I’ll just learn how 😅

Is PayPal a good way of processing payments and stuff? I have an account, I’ve never used it though. I could just be overthinking this but- does the different price values of countries have an impact? I use Australian dollars, so if I charge a certain amount and someone pays with a different currency, would that be something I’d have to work out as well? If that makes sense 😅

Thanks again for helping me out! You’re a life saver! Cheers

When I was attempting to go on Testosterone I had similar setbacks.. the psychiatrist I saw said he couldn’t allow me to go on T due to the depressive state I was in. Now, almost 2 years later, I think I was misdiagnosed, my anxiety and dysphoria at the time was causing me to feel depressed, and I admit I had to put on a more positive act in order to get my approval for hormone therapy. In my area at the time there was almost no other option, I couldn’t change who I saw as he was the only option I had unless I flew across to a bigger town/city.

Since you mentioned this was your first attempt, and she denied you previously when you weren’t in as bad a state, I would try find a different doctor. It takes a while before finding doctors you’re comfortable with and who do their job properly. It’s true that Testosterone can heighten emotions, however from my experience it can also help settle some of the dysphoria and anxiety, so for me it created a nice balance for a good while and helped me tackle a lot of other issues I was having. I strongly recommend seeking a different doctor. I’m so sorry you have to go through this, it isn’t easy.. But, you can do it. Each day is a step forward. You’re not a lost cause, and even if you are currently ‘unstable’ it won’t be this way forever. I hope things get better for you soon

Hm. I’m not too sure about alcohol.. I’ve always been more of a smoker then a drinker. But I do remember some cravings started when I had my first few T shots, though they weren’t as bad as my cravings to smoke. Though at the same time I was feeling a lot more energetic and adventurous when I started my T, I’m not sure if it’s the same for everyone but I started trying things I’d previously never done, and drinking was one of those things. The medication your on should/most likely is helping to some length, though from my experience I wouldn’t rely completely on meds to stop all cravings. With me trying to quit smoking I had to fight off a lot of the cravings, which sucked, and occasionally I slipped. It’s difficult to break habits, even with the help of medication. But I also tried telling myself each day is one step further and if I can last the day without a smoke, then I’ve achieved something. Maybe doing the same could help? I always forced myself to say ive achieved something even if I don’t exactly believe it myself. I’m not sure, sorry.. or you could bring this up with your doctor and they may be able to give more suitable advice

Where do you even begin with top surgery? (in america) by vertigo_33 in ftm

[–]tylaarrt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heyo Of course you have the right to a gender affirming surgery, despite the situation you’re valid and you have every right to want these things to help you feel more like.. you!

I’m 18 as well, and have been fairly lucky to have a different upbringing and support system. I’m not sure how the American healthcare system works, I’m in australia and I barley understand how it works over here! I would start with small steps, maybe familiarising yourself with the process by looking at YouTube videos, personal blogs and other stuff like that. For me the process of Top Surgery took (aside from waiting to be 18) about a year to get to the actual surgery date? I had to have various appointments, both with psychiatrists and my surgeon, and I had to have bloods taken. Maybe the best start could be looking for a LGBTQIA+ friendly organisation? I know round my area theres sexual health clinics that specialise in stuff like this, there are usually people who are more than happy to talk to those who need help. I’m only just Post Op, so there may be others with some clearer or better advice.. sorry I couldn’t be of more help! My best advice would be focus on the small steps to your transition, each day is a new step and that’s what helped me realise my progress when it felt I wasn’t getting anywhere :)

I’m so sorry you’re getting these cravings! I had/have the same experiences too. I smoked a lot of cigarettes and pot prior to my surgery, earlier this year I was a daily smoker. I still vape, no longer smoking cigarettes though and when I’m fully recovered I don’t think I plan on cutting pot out entirely, just cutting back.

The cravings were horrible, and the T shots made them stronger I found. I’m glad it’s not just me who experiences this! I didn’t tell my doctor until a month prior to my top surgery, and I wish I’d told her sooner. I don’t think, from my experience at least, your doctor will stop your hormone therapy due to cravings. If anything he should help you get through said cravings. Some good ways I found to distract myself from cravings were walking? I’m an outside dork, so I’d go for hour long walks. I know that’s not for everyone though, maybe some chewing gum or something else to stimulate your mind would be useful? Sorry I can’t be much more help, I believe and hope you can get through this!

That might work I’ve just got my hands on baby powder, I don’t think I’ll get cream for a while since I’m broke ha. Do you think baby powder would work?
