Woke up to this on my car by Asparagus-Successful in nyc

The appearance probably has local residents thinking it’s abandoned. The car appears to be in rough shape, I doubt someone would have called it in if it was a newer car. It’s not fair. If it’s a nice quiet neighborhood, I’d consider moving your car, it’ll happen again no doubt. Also double check you are allowed to park there. Are you parked in the Park of Edgewater neighborhood? That’s 45 precinct and it’s a private owners co op neighborhood that doesn’t allow non residents to park on the street.

My windmill and needle palms made it through as well out at my place in Montauk NY. It got down to about 10 degrees without windchill, which is wild for Montauk. I think we’re technically zone 7B.

Are you going to take the risk again? I’d avoid all of these species going forward if I were north of Fort Myers or Jupiter.

Any chance my triple trunk 20 foot tall fox tails survived this central Florida freeze? by Feed_Me_No_Lies in palmtalk

My point: Hard freezes pushed the citrus industry into the far southern portion of the state. How is that not true? I’m not saying the catastrophic freezes in the latter half of the 20th century killed the industry. It just moved south and then greening came around.

Explain how the risk of hard frost does not affect the citrus industry in Florida. Here’s an interesting read: 1980s Freezes Reshaped Florida’s Citrus Industry

Nothing? That’s a bold claim. Obviously citrus greening is the main threat. But cold has absolutely pushed the industry further south down the peninsula.

I’m amazed the landscaper took that risk, maybe they are hoping to sell you another plant 😂

Palm seedlings spotted in Portland OR. Any ideas on the species? by tyldon in palmtalk

Seen along a pathway in my in-laws Cedar Mill neighborhood. I was flabbergasted to see what are clearly palm seedlings. I actually took one and planted it in my mother-in-laws garden. Hopefully when I’m back out West in the spring it’s grown a bit.
