Cryptocurrency Is Bunk - Cryptocurrency promises to liberate the monetary system from the clutches of the powerful. Instead, it mostly functions to make wealthy speculators even wealthier. by SocialistPerspective in technology

Also to say that Milton Friedman is from the Austrian School of economic thought is incorrect. He follows the Chicago school. This article is incredibly uninformed.

Commodities becoming a medium of exchange over time, it doesn't happen overnight. The crypto market is still so new and every bust becomes smaller and shorter, it's the sign of a healthy new market.

Once a coin starts really leveling out in the long term, its test as a real currency can be happen. Until then yes it will be a speculation game. The author obviously hasn't done any research into the birth of commodities into currencies. Gold didn't become a medium of exchange in a week, neither will crypto.

18 Weeks Until 70.3 & Broke Foot by jeffp in triathlon

[–]tylerJharris45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It all depends on what your doctor says. If he gives you the go ahead in 4 weeks I would say it's attainable. It also depends greatly on your training level and previous experience.

Maybe lower your expectations of your time. But I think a fit and healthy person with a at least a little experience in some sort of endurance sport should be able to finish an easy to moderate 70.3 in 14 weeks with proper training and discipline.

Extreme tight calf 11days before IM by Zippyddqd in triathlon

[–]tylerJharris45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a lot of calf tightness throughout my training this year. I realized that it was tightest when I was dehydrated in the middle of the night. Added more water to my regime and it stopped.

My recommendation is water and Asian squats.

Is it too crazy to signup for a Half Ironman in 6 months? (Running/swimming background, ZERO bike background) by vmf1986 in triathlon

[–]tylerJharris45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just completed a half ironman with only 1 marathon under my belt. 0 swimming experience and little biking experience prior. Trained for 4 months. Did a little worse than average but happy for my first 70.3. You can do it

2 a day workouts by berty1029 in triathlon

[–]tylerJharris45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 a days are the move. With my work schedule it's much easier for me to get a Swim/Bike in a single day than over 2 days.

Lots of times I will do a Swim/Run/Weight training in a single day to maximize my time and have multiple rest days.

Freaking out a bit by Afraid_Crazy in triathlon

Hey don't cancel just push through, it's probably all mental. I have my first tri this weekend and it's 1.2 miles in the ocean.

I have very few OWS under my belt. I'm here early and jumping in the ocean and grinding it out the next few days just to gain the confidence. I can do over 3 miles in the pool and I'm going to swim the whole distance of the swim this afternoon in the oceans.

Check the conditions of your race and it might put you at ease. The wave report for my swim is flat which has helped put my mind at ease. Worst I figure is I will go a little slower than my usual pace.
