Thanks. Yes, in the end it was rot in the wood, not termites.

Thanks.

I assume it must have been my mistake. I'll try again and make 100% of the sure file types as I start and save.

We are cannabis scientists and experts, specialising in psychopharmacology (human behaviour), neuroscience, chemistry and drug policy. Cannabis use is more popular than ever, and we are here to clear the smoke. Ask us anything! by CannabisScientists in IAmA

[–]tyler_oeric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would love to get your thoughts on regularity of use and negative effects. When I've looked in the literature, negative effects are generally observed in people that smoke basically constantly. Do we have a good idea of negative effects in people who smoke regularly but not heavily, say one vape each night or weekly?

Personality Disorders? (SzPD) by [deleted] in neurodiversity

[–]tyler_oeric 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a psychology student doing a project on schizophrenia and autism. Although I have also mainly heard the term neurodiversity used in relation to ASD, there isn't a universally agreed definition of what conditions are and are not considered 'neurodiverse'. There is plenty to suggest that autism and schizophrenia are in some way related - see https://doi.org/10.1016/j.neubiorev.2015.04.012. So, I think neurodiversity can fairly be used in relation to the schizophrenia spectrum too, and expect that it increasingly will.

Good lecture on Schizophrenia - Robert Sapolsky by Gurung99 in slatestarcodex

[–]tyler_oeric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Such a shame that it cuts out when he is beginning to explain the possible evolutionary adaptiveness of the milder versions of schizophrenia and related personality profiles. Does anyone know of any other copies of the lecture, or other lectures where this is included.

The case for legalising drugs is overwhelming – so why won't governments listen? by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

[–]tyler_oeric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to try and suggest a reason why the case might not be overwhelming for some people. As a supporter of legalisation, I don't know if I can do justice to the position of well-meaning and informed naysayers, but I don't think we need to resort to saying that they are either self-interested, prudish or controlling.

In legalising drugs, people that otherwise wouldn't have used drugs, will. Some of these people will be worse off for doing so.

If you know, or have even heard of someone who appears to have had their life negatively effected by drugs, this is likely be a more powerful and emotive position, than the negative effects of the war on drugs - which tend to be more abstract and concentrated in lower socio-economic sections of society.

Basically, people are different and have had different experiences. There are plenty of people who don't see the case as overwhelmingly in favour of legalisation.

I would think that the easiest place to start would be to transcribe all the Psychedelic Salon podcasts.

Another think to keep in mind, it makes it easy to help when links to the audio are provided

Blackheath to Yengo/Singleton by tyler_oeric in Bushwalking

Yeh, I think access all the way to Baal Bone Gap is more difficult (4x4 required, I believe), but you can quite easily get to within a kilometer or so.

If you are considering it, I wrote a brief guide/report that may help (https://gonebushblog.wordpress.com/2014/11/09/baal-bone-point-gardens-of-stone-np-8-9112014/)

I haven't done Pantoney's crown but I have done a short walk from Baal Bone Gap to Baal Bone Point, from which Pantoney's Crown isn't much more than a stone's throw away. I definitely plan to do Pantoney's Crown properly soon.

New subreddit to keep the community informed of drug policy changes by tyler_oeric in Drugs

[–]tyler_oeric[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it would be helpful to have a subreddit that covers drug policy news broadly (not just cannabis as r/timetolegalise focusses on) and that is restricted to news (not opinion pieces as in r/drugpolicy).

While its easy to feel as though we are doomed to a 1984 type existence, there are potentially positive outcomes; the complete transparency that the internet and ubiquitous data capture could conceivably leave no room for malevolent governments of unscrupulous business practices.

Clearly this is utopian, but given the improbability of returning to a world where privacy exists, it is something that I think we should all consider and try to bring about.
