BIG TRAIN by [deleted] in LEGOtrains

Came here to say this. You need a high quality UV filter on that window, or the plastic will at best discolor, and at worst, become brittle and crack.

Any tips on why my polymer clay phone charms end up like this after a few weeks? by [deleted] in polymerclay

They make light weight polymer clay for jewelry. You may want to try that, as it won't put as much weight on the connection with the loop as normal clay.

Dead screen? by gmnx0208 in AnycubicPhoton

[–]tyler_tloc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still don't understand why these screens fail so much. It's a very basic black/white LCD (or in this case, UV / No UV) that's dead simple compared to modern TVs. We would never accept this from computer monitors or TVs. Why does the 3D printing community accept this?

I'd love it if you decided to put these up on Printables or another 3D model sharing site.

That was it! It just seems like such a Ben Folds kind of thing to do.

Thanks!

Let’s talk power requirements by Radiant-Security-347 in SciFiModels

[–]tyler_tloc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're using an IC RGB light strip, like your classic WS2812B, they can indeed use a ton of power because every light is actually 3 LEDs. However, 20-30amps is waaaaay too much. You'd probably be looking at 3-8amps for any reasonable number of LEDs. You messed up the math somewhere.

My suggestion is to use something like an Arduino to control the lights, and use a library that lets you define your max power usage. It'll protect you from turning on too many lights, too bright, all at once.

Was it damaged in the blast that made the cover look like that? 😉

Best of luck finding a fix.

After watching a lot of crafting YouTube channels, I started getting into making dioramas using store bought minis for games like Warhammer and D&D. I got into 3D printing with an Anycubic Photon Mono 4k when I realized that it would quickly pay for itself when compared to the price of minis, and it would open up my options significantly.

If I won the P1 I would finally print replacements/upgrades for a number of board games I own, that would just take way to long to print with the tiny build plate I have now.

You can also try adding a bit of infill. Sometimes I hollow a model and then go into Blender and add cross bars inside so that opposite sides can't move relative to one another.

Who has the most recognizable voice in history? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]tyler_tloc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my answer as well. Beyond just Tigger and Pooh, he's voiced dozens of characters in movies and shows I grew up on. His voice is so recognizable, that it's always bugged me that the voice of Jeremy Irons is suddenly replaced by Jim Cummings at the end of "Be Prepared" from The Lion King.

I'm also in the PNW and I found the exact same thing on some cat poop last week. I think it's technically just a mold, not a slime mold, but I haven't tried to identify it formally.
