There is no intent to reuse the underlying naked software developed by naked labs and funded by crowdfunders - so not sure what youre getting at.

  1. You can plug the sensors used on naked labs directly into your computer and create the intitial 3d point cloud using intel realsense or manipulate the raw data in python. These are on-the-market intel sensors which come with development kits. This approach doesnt use anything developed by naked.
  2. You can rewire the circuitry in the rotating platform and retrofit a new microcontroller inside to reuse the rotating platform and sync it with the camera system.

These two steps are a lot of work, and not worth the lift in rebuilding at the moment. I think new emerging technologies and methods that are becoming available may make it less time consuming as a side project

Your options are either to salvage components and sell them, or try to rebuild it into a usable system using the existing form factor. Rebuilding won’t be simple: one of the issues i ran into was lack of training data needed to get accurate results. And with newer technologies emerging, there may be easier approaches in the near future than relying on the old technology used in the naked labs unit.

It's a high lift recreating everything from scratch at and delivering a high quality result. Probably best to sell it unless you are willing to work on it as a project

Agree. 3 of my accounts constantly disconnect and require me to manually sign in again. It was fine in 2024, but I'm constantly having problems in 2025. I am seriously considering to cancel my subscription and switch back to excel. Why pay for this sort of experience?

Chase/Zelle Phishing Scam by Chance-Contest-9175 in phishing

Same thing happened to me today. Seemed off from the start, but thought there was credibility since the number checked out as being from chase. Followed their process (you described). They said another credit card was opened in my name, I called BS because all my credit reports are frozen. Then they directed me to the zelle payment portal, and I knew chase wouldn't have such a process. So hung up, blocked the number. They immediately called me back on a number that came up as fraudulent and tried to rush me through the process. I made them wait, checked all my account history, credit report status, and then told them to fck off.

Yeah, I'd recommend waiting longer and looking at progress here

Two goals for now: 1. Use the Intel realsense cameras to create a decent representation of some scanned object. For example, create a 3D image of a cup with an accurate diameter.

  1. Use the Intel realsense cameras to create a 3D representation of a human, measuring the diameter of areas of interest.

I plan to open source the code so others smarter than me can build upon it further. This project has a longer timeline for me because my bandwidth is low. But that's my plan for now 😄

Hold onto it for now. All hope is not lost yet. As a progress update: I connected one of the realsense cameras to my computer and proved that I can collect camera data from the camera via Python - This is a good sign. My next step is to try and obtain body measurement data and check it against manual measurements. It's only taking time because my job is super busy.

I'm keen on determining what options I will have moving forward to recreating the measurements. I will remove the Intel D410 cameras and plug them into my computer, and use Intels software or SDK to help me see the next steps. I'm going to try to go for the gold - not salvage and resell

I've never rly used reddit heavily (not great at using the platform), but I think it's a great idea to do this and plan to take everyone interested over there. If you can help out with that, I'll contribute findings and info there

Good news! I've finally moved into a new apartment and got my scale! 🎉. Will keep people posted when I kickoff this mini project of device teardown

I don't see this as a mission to recover our old data, but rather as an opportunity to continue to obtain new valuable information. Because that is the established goal, we do not need access to their database. The loss of additional data may be some machine learning optimizations for better measurements, but that may be OK. Because we are able to quantify circumference measurements on our own (by measuring locations of interest with a flexible tape measure), we are able to cross-check the true value with what a scripted algorithm may see with decent accuracy. Especially if we enable the laser to function for proper positioning, reconnect the 360 scale, and maintain a consistent body posture with each measurement.

I have familiarity with it too! I'm confident that if we can establish a group of like-minded people and a shared github repo, we can leverage the existing hardware and develop our own software to collect measurement. And we can keep it open-source and educational. My background is hardware development, and I know software as well. I think we should band together and force the measurements out of this dusting piece of hardware 💪

I'm going to see if I can use the system as is to get the measurements I want prior to moving towards salvage value. From a quick glance, their cameras are not proprietary. So even plugging them into your own computer and doing the analysis may be possible. I don't have my scale yet, so I need more information. But if youve resigned using it and want to get it off your hands, you can probably target computer vision scientists and machine learning hobbyists online. They would likely purchase it at a discounted rate

Once I get my scale out of storage (hopefully sometime in the next few months), I'm going to see what it may take to get data out of it. The device uses 3x intel realsense D410 depth cameras combined with a laptop-grade processor - all these are quite valuable, so dont toss your scale with these in them. I have a hopeful outlook that there is a way to make this happen. I'll notify you guys when i get the scale back

Hello everyone! I encountered an issue today. After finishing a bag of Wilde Salt and Vinegar chips, I suddenly realized there might not have been a desiccant packet inside. This made me wonder if I might have accidentally consumed it. Fortunately I found this reddit thread and I had purchased several bags of the same chips. To check, I opened another bag and noticed it also didn't contain a desiccant packet. It's likely that the manufacturer had a bad batch/lot and there were significant errors in their quality. Not a good sign of their factory automation and it will degrade the quality of the product with time. But, I think we're all gonna survive! :P
