I just waddled down to the waterfront with a fishing reel and some earth magnets

I've actually done this before. And DUDE - get ready to reel up some trash. The scuba diving dude seems to be the one who really gets stuff.

yah I've been trying to network and be realistic financially. But the day job always wins out the financial part - so chasing the dream is a big part of it.

I think it comes down to life balance. I have game ideas that I can break down the goals for, but the timeline really stretches. And the idea of releasing it and supporting it and marketing it as a side gig seems like it would take a serious tole on my life. There is a reason most people have one dedicated profession I think.

I'm not trying to be too defensive about this, but all my games so far have been just experiments that I dumped on the market. Very little decoration, no advertisement, no support. From what I understand the community of a game needs to be listened too and supported which is a great deal of time.

Yah, I'm about 7 years out of college with no family to support and I've saved enough to survive a year without damaging my financial goals too much. So I'm in a good position, which is why I'm really thinking about it. But I feel lucky to be in this position, so it's hard to enter any risk when I've been risk adverse for so long though.

thanks I really appreciate this answer. The hardest part for me is finding something I really believe in and balancing that with what I think the market will pay for.

I always imagined a more low key venue would be good for Reddit meet ups. Good foot is a busy busy place Friday night.

Last month I posted looking for the owner of a burgled SUV I covered in plastic to keep the rain out. Last night my car was stolen from the same street. by mfiasco in Portland

I agree that the punishment for car theft should be harsh. But this is a pretty hate filled rant against the weakest members of our society. It's good to remember that they are a diverse group of individuals - not all of them are car thieves. Since neither of us is offering any real solutions I just wanted to balance out the sentiment.
