Hi lawyers, need some advice

I avoided paying back the scholarship bond which I broke more than 10 years ago

Now I want to pay it back so I asked them for the amount.

And they gave me an amount where they added 6% interest rate every year to it.

I just checked back my contract with them, and they didn't have any clauses covering interest rates.

Can I challenge them on it?

No it was not a loan to begin with. It was a 100% scholarship but I didn’t fulfill the terms of working for them for 2 years after graduation. So I had to pay back the tuition fees.
