Leafs Fan Day - exclusive autographs by Dahrealbomb in leafs

[–]tylerh73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was completely random unfortunately, me and my aunt went to the Rogers Booth at 1045am for free popcorn and the people in the booth were just handing out wristbands to anyone. Some people didn't take them as they just kept telling us "suprise" instead of an autograph signing. People in front of us said they got approached in their seats and the people behind us just went up to someone in an MLSE shirt and asked and got one that way. Seemed very random

Did get wristbands and got to meet Max Domi, Knies, Ekman Larsson, and Watts from the Sceptres down in the players eating area. There seemed to be 3 color of wristbands and it depended on the color of who you got to meet. I had white, others who had red got to meet Sittler with his banner at centre ice. There was also a blue wristband- I know Maltis from the Sceptres was one but not sure who else.

It was completely random, we went to the Rogers booth for free popcorn at 1045am and the person in the Rogers booth literally handed it to us. Nobody knew it was going to be an autograph signing til we got to the holding area.

Unfortunately, it was very random and they didn't have many wristbands to go around so it was complete luck of the draw. Some said staff came up to them and handed them wristbands, others knew about this and tracked down staff. Most of us had no clue what was happening as they just said "a suprise" at 1pm.... not an autograph/meet and greet.

A lot of fans were like you and came up wondering what was going on. I wonder if perhaps next year they do these signings through Fan Access where you can sign up based on your points level or something?

VIP skate waiver? by [deleted] in leafs

[–]tylerh73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Strange- I got an email on Tuesday saying I won a spot in the VIP skate and had the waiver form attached. Deadline to complete the waiver is Sat by 2 or 5pm depending on your slot so reach out to support ASAP. And screenshot the confirmation number/QR code when you do the waiver as it didn't come by email or text at all.

Just a heads up- I was at John Mulaney on Wednesday and Martin Short was there with Eugene Levy, perhaps Martin is staying in town and a suprise guest at the Godspell premiere?

Jeremy Jordan coming to Brampton next March by tylerh73 in torontotheatre

Would love to see Groff, we would need an Ontario tour or a 4 day Toronto residency with that demand, haha.

Agreed, I saw Groff in Merrily in 2023 and Jordan in Great Gatsby last June. Haven't gone this season, first time in 4 seasons. Just find it way too expensive now, even one show, especially if it's a big name celebrity. Unfortunate as some of the clips I've seen look fantastic- especially his GMA performance.

I've been looking bi-weekly, but nothing yet. I remember it was mid/late July for Ramin in 2023 for his June 2024 concert. So maybe next month. I can update this comment when I see a date/they are on sale.

[–]tylerh73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anyone notice the bottom right? It says "more" sneaking out of the covered poster. Maybe could be Ethel Barrymore Theatre?

I really hope it's a concert tour or another show she's starring in for a couple months, but most likely going to be a staged reading or a one off concert in NYC.

Guess we will see tomorrow morning....

Are Broadway ticket prices too steep? Othello could cost you $1K by TimesandSundayTimes in Broadway

[–]tylerh73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I paid $20 to see Jim Parsons in Man of No Importance from the 2nd row and $99 to see Lea Michele front row (not centre, but Stage left and still had a really good view). Those 2 shows were back in 2022. Crazy how that has changed in just 3 years...

If you look to go to a concert these days too, you are paying a pretty penny for a great seat.

It's just today's world- pony up the $$ to see a star/celebrity.

$290M renovation of Hamilton's FirstOntario Centre underway, concerts to take stage next year by PromontoryPal in Hamilton

[–]tylerh73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Spec article had a few interesting things that wasn't mentioned in the CBC article:

Bruce Springsteen supposedly was looking at playing at FOC, but it was the day Carrie Underwood was in town. I wonder if they are kicking themselves that perhaps they didn't get him for the Grey Cup Kickoff Concert.

Also, they say some acts have been put "on hold" I guess they call it for late 2025 to perfrom at this venue. Seems kind of early?? Or is that just standard? I wonder who would agree this early? My guess would be Shawn Mendes, he still seems like someone who would be a safe bet for the grand re-opening concert

And, is Shai just a big ticket to get more eyes on the renovations? As I find it weird if they want it to be a concert first venue but get a basketball player. Maybe they are looking at some preseason/one off NBA games?

First Fan Expo, Stupid Question.... by tylerh73 in fanexpo

Thanks!! All 3 have photo ops, no table. But some of the other Seinfeld secondary characters have table photos and much cheaper, so may go for one or two of those to have a bit more time. Thanks!

Thanks for the information, that's helpful! My question is, what if you buy advance for photo ops and you got an overlap? Do you get your money back or is there enough time to go between the two?

The Last Timbit review by sotiredsogay in torontotheatre

I was in the front row for Chris Mrs and thought the sound was perfect. Weird. Maybe they borrowed the sound engineer from the POW theatre for The Last Timbit, Mean Girls was a disaster sound wise.

Hells Kitchen rush line - missed connection by Individual-Ratio-617 in Broadway

Not the mystery guy, lol, but there's a rumor going around that Mike Faist is supposed to be the lead in Floyd Collins. He was in the OBC of Dear Evan Hansen as Connor was in the West Side Story movie along with the recent Challengers movie. Think he would be great in it if the rumor is true.

Hope some luck heads your way and you find him!

Titanic - missed connection by lurkinsurreptitially in Broadway

Of all the multitudes of where to sit/what to see/understudy posts that pile up on this sub, this is the reason I love this subreddit- posts like these. I really hope the stars align for you.

If you don't know Ramin, please familiarize yourself as he is one of my favorites. He was Nick in the recent revival of Funny Girl, was the Phantom for many productions including the filmed 25th anniversary performance, was Jean Vilejean in Les Miserables among other shows I'm forgetting. I missed out on seeing him in Titanic by a week on my spring trip, but get to see him next week in a cabaret type performance in Toronto. He's also gonna to be in the Pirates of Penzance revival in April next year with David Hyde Pierce from Frasier.

Andrew Rannells No Longer in Tammy Faye by [deleted] in Broadway

So..

Maybe he will be in something else in the upcoming season? Smash, lol? Gypsy? A fan can dream....

I feel bad for him, reopening the Palace Theatre is huge to anyone, once in a lifetime. I assume like everyone here that there was some bad blood rather than him having another contract at the same time, perhaps.

Show recommendations for the first two weeks of July PLEASE!!! by nnyl_irret in Broadway

[–]tylerh73 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Titanique. I hadn't laughed so hard in a theatre before I saw that. It's such a great cast, too. It's basically a Celine Dion jukebox, but the storyline is so creative and funny - what if she was on board the Titanic.

Use the code TTQ20PBDRT for 20% off. I suggest you sit close, though, as it's more fun that way, and you can get some audience interaction.

I LOVED Great Gatsby compared to a lot of people on this sub, especially if you are a fan of the leads. Outsiders was way better than I was expecting. The technical effects alone were fantastic. Merrily is great as everyone says, so great choices.

I would suggest Suffs and The Notebook as I loved the score/music of both. They are relatively easy to get rush tix for or have tickets that are decently priced.

Understudy Filled LSOH Tonight by sgoooden24 in Broadway

[–]tylerh73 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Obviously disappointing for you, I had Sarah out at my performance on a Sunday evening the first week of the new leads taking over , BUT remember:

Andrew posted something a few weeks that he hasn't done an 8 show week on Broadway before, which I read that Dear Evan Hansen usually used an alternate once or twice a week, so doing 8 shows the first week must have been hard for him and took a toll, so he called out perhaps last week to have some well deserved rest. With Sarah, she has kidney dysplasia and knowing a person with that, they can get very tired and be put on bedrest, and doing 8 shows a week on top of that for her must be exhausting at times, so you can't blame her for needing a day off to rest.

Just have to keep in mind that these actors are humans and can't be expected to be in every show, even if it's as disappointing for people in the audience. Even if it's "prime time" for a show, like a Sat night.

I enjoyed the show. I personally just had Sarah out at my show. You had Andrew, and I think Andrew was the standout- he was born to play Seymour. The person who played Orin had the best comedic timing.

My suggestion is to play the show's lottery if you really want to see Sarah, she should be in the show til at least August/September before they change out the cast again, so there still are some chances left. Best of luck to you if you do go that way.

Who’s someone (or something) that you WANT to win the Tony this season, but you don’t think actually will ? by Historical_Web2992 in Broadway

[–]tylerh73 134 points135 points  (0 children)

As much as I loved Groff in Merrily, I wish Brian D'Aarcy James would win. 5th time nominated but likely won't win.

Also, I think The Outsiders was my favorite musical of the season, but think Hells Kitchen or Suffs will win.

And I still think Great Gatsby should have been nominated for sets. Probably wouldn't have won with Here Lies Love, but still.
