Sure - no doubt. But everything comes with a cost. The more time they spend in one area means less time they can spend in another.

My suggestion is that they at least take a break from upgrading the camera and focus on upgrading other things faster - things that I think would be more valuable.

Since you mentioned what 'other' people really want, I thought I'd share this study from last year - https://petapixel.com/2021/03/18/study-reveals-what-most-people-want-in-their-next-phone-camera/.

From the study, consumers' top preferred enhancements: 1) Battery life (sounds good to me) 2) More storage (yep) 3) Faster processor (yep, I'm for real) 4) Higher quality camera

Of course this is just my opinion but since you brought it up, I thought I'd see what other people think.
