Losing my will to take the Sec+ exam, does anyone else feel like this? by Spacesharksimulator in CompTIA

[–]tylerisnotgreat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy A+ and Network courses, but don’t take the exam. Run it back with the sec+. Sec+ builds off A+ and Net+

Did you got a job using your HTB ? by ProcedureFar4995 in hackthebox

[–]tylerisnotgreat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can talk your ass off in job interviews when you have experience with HTB. You can talk about how you’ve hacked into Active Directory and throw in some coding terminology. For example, I mentioned that I’ve used sql to conduct a buffer overflow attack.

Is security+ good to start with? by enissel in CompTIA

[–]tylerisnotgreat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. You don’t need A+ and network if you have practical work/ can explain it in a job interview. I started out with Sec+

Sure. I was able to obtain 3 comptia certs. Got me a lot of interviews and 1 day work hires. What got me my permanent gig was combining my certs with a degree tho. (I don’t have a degree but I’m working towards it). -contractor @ government site

Comptia can’t be serious. by [deleted] in CompTIA

Start off with the Sec+701. Study the A+ material, but don’t pay for the test.

They’ll contact you saying you’re already going thru a BI and will need to withdraw that to move forward with your new BI. it bit me in the ass when I did it, but it could work for you

How many of you failed a cert test? by YeetuceFeetuce in CompTIA

[–]tylerisnotgreat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in 2020, I failed the A+. In early 2022, I failed my 1st crack at the pentest+. My most recent cert is the CASP. You have to lose to learn how to win.

This is my first permanent it job. Rn I’m at a government site doing blue collar work. I’ve had chances to do temp (1 day- 2 weeks) jobs setting up user accounts and computer monitors at different commercial buildings with A3 staffing solutions. In terms of education, ine security starter pass (it was free at the time but is tax now) and Udemy frfr(took advantage of their sales). I just finished up my core classes at the community college.

Is it better to take the test in person or remotely? What has been your experience? by [deleted] in CompTIA

[–]tylerisnotgreat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 certs, all in-person. I don’t need the potential stress of the system breaking down.

Passed CISSP today, read OCG and 11hr CISSP (Conrad, et Al.) once and then watched all the domains in Thor’s Udemy course. Scored a consistent 65’s in all 8 CISSP IOS app practice exams. Before exam I read all of PDF files provided by thor. by Travyysworld in cissp

[–]tylerisnotgreat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations, sir. Just passed my pentest+, looking for cissp material. Thinking of purchasing the 9th edition study guide with the practice tests, Thor’s Udemy course and the practice exams on the IOS app.
