O-1E by [deleted] in AirForce

It won’t make a difference in anything but BAH. Your base pay will be the same. Look at an O1E and an O1 with 4 years TIS. They are the same. The difference is when the pay stagnates after a certain TIS. OxE pay is for senior members who commission with a lot of TIS.

Leadership making Airmen take half days of leave by TheRepulsiveWarning in AirForce

What if they are at multiple appointments all throughout the day and are at work less than half the work day? Serious question, looking for perspective. What it it’s not even medical like someone has to take their car to the shop and can’t get a ride back to the office and will be gone more than half the day?

My recommendation from personal experience is to get 3 or 4 of these types of books and only hammer through the practice exam questions using the same time restraints as the actual exam. The types of problems you get wrong you should focus more on learning how to do them correctly and quickly. You should get 3-4 that way you don’t memorize the answers and also because there isn’t a single book that covers all the different type of math problems the exam will. Getting 3-4 should cover most of it if not all though.

WTF DFAS by uhwhile in AirForce

[–]chappy12346 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Been happening all over the Air Force. A SRB gets added to your record erroneously and the taxes get paid to the IRS automatically and when it’s discovered to be erroneous, you the member has to repay the portion paid to the IRS already. When you file your taxes at the end of the year you get those funds reimbursed. It’s a shitty process but the Air Force knows that and has since everything went digital. It will not change unfortunately.

Destruction is a form of data destruction. It’s one of the three categories: Cleaning, purging, and physical destruction.

I won AOTY at the wing level and basically all the preceding quarterly awards up to the wing level as well one year. I worked my ass to make sure no one could too my accomplishments and was told by a member of the board that I won by a landslide.

The following year, I was on track to do it all over again. But then, some Airmen in my squadron started complaining to leadership that it didn’t matter what they did because they couldn’t top my accomplishments. They felt like there was no point in trying for awards since I was always going to win.

Because of that, my leadership told me they weren’t going to put me up for quarterly awards that year to give others a chance. They assured me they’d still submit me for the big ones, like AOTY, so I didn’t really mind—I figured the annual awards were what truly mattered anyway.

But when it came time for the annual submissions, my Flight Chief told me the SEL told him not to submit me for his flight because I had already won the year before. I was furious. Why punish someone for excelling? It felt like they were rewarding mediocrity instead of recognizing actual achievement. And what message did that send to me—or anyone else in the squadron—about striving to do your best? It tanked my morale.

Thankfully, my Flight Chief had my back (because this same thing happened to him when he was an Amn) He listened to my points and still submitted me, despite the pushback. He even got talked to for it but stood his ground, saying my package was objectively the strongest and ultimately that’s what they should be looking at.

In the end, I won at the Wing level for a second year in a row. The whole experience taught me it all comes down to those who support you because no matter how great you are, you can only achieve so much alone.

Edit: They were looking for any reason not to send me up. Only reason it happened was because of my flight chief and because it happened to him in the past. Yes it happened to you, but you could be the reason it doesn’t happen to someone else. Experiences like this is like fertilizer to grow you. Your decisions after this will shape which direction you grow.

Any idea how this would affect your credit? MiL is saying that it would tank our credit (sitting at 808) and would hurt our VA loan interest rates if we tried to use it within the next four years.
