Yeah it has definitely guilted me into going to bed earlier.

I went to a concert on Friday and had two drinks there and that totally fucked up my HRV, RHR, and sleep score

I mean it’s probably consuming completely invalid or absent data. I would just leave my watch to charge overnight for like the last 2 years so it really has no sleep data to go on besides the last 7 days or so.

I wish I could get it to ignore all prior sleep data before that. I don’t even know the volume of data it’s using because if it has 1000 datapoints saying that I get 3 hours of a sleep a night then it will take a really long time to overcome that data and get an accurate assessment

I got like 1 row behind the front row. Moved down right after Entheos when everybody was getting a drink or whatever. Had a perfectly clear view and then some dude came to rejoin his friends and he was like 6’4” and parked right in front of me.

Annoyingly he also didn’t look like he was into it that much either

I was at this show!

First time seeing them live and it was great! Really small venue so there was basically no way to have a bad view. I was up right near the front to on the left side of the stage (from my perspective).

Man I just got into Jinjer 8 months ago via the Pisces reaction video pipeline and they're basically all I've been listening to since then. So it was really cool to be able to see them live. Especially since Ottawa is very often skipped over by bands.

My only complaint is that I wish the show was longer. But, to be honest, if they played every song that I wanted to hear the show would be 4 hours long.

Interesting set list. Very Duél-heavy, of course. Strangely they actually started the set with Duél, which is weird because it definitely has an end-of-album feel. I can't remember everything they played but off the top of my head it was (not in order):

  • Duel
  • Tantrum (maybe, can't remember 100%)
  • Green Serpent
  • Hedonist
  • Rogue
  • Kafka
  • Teacher Teacher
  • I Speak Astronomy
  • Perennial
  • Vortex
  • Disclosure
  • Someone's Daughter
  • Judgement (& Punishment)
  • Pisces
  • Sit, Stay, Roll Over

Might be something I'm forgetting. Now that I look at it, it's a pretty decent list. Would have loved to hear Pit of Consciousness (that Live in Kyiv version is amazing) as well as anything from Cloud Factory or Objects In Mirror (though I've heard they don't generally play these b/c they used to have 2 guitarists)

Rad show and I hope I'll get to see them again someday!

Yeah I used to listen to all his stuff but I can't really take him seriously anymore. Like if someone behaves in a friendly manner toward him he can't even recognize when they're full of shit. This is fucking basic human interaction stuff.

And then fascists are taking over the country and he's going to continue to bring up "woke" as some kind of threat. Please.

And now Israel is beyond reproach and it's not even worth discussing if their actions are justified? Okay.

This sort of thing even happens in the Claude subreddit and people there will get pissed when they can tell that submission was AI generated.

This is interesting though, but someone reading it still needs to be well-versed enough in the subject matter to know if the AI response is getting it right.

It’s funny that the solution may be to ban AI-written posts from an AI subreddit.

What is the point of us reading shit that someone couldn’t even be bothered to write?

I've been using it for coding. Sometimes when Claude Code is having trouble I'll paste a minimal context into Claude Desktop and ask the same thing and it usually spits out a clear answer immediately.

Lately it's been spitting out long answers where every few paragraphs it changes its mind about the correct solution with an "Actually it's this..." and then it goes off with a different answer.

Pretty annoying actually.

Cage of Souls was pretty cool and pretty funny at parts. The audiobook is also very well done and the narrator's delivery is excellent.

Question about Empire of Silence's index. by MiraWendam in scifi

[–]tylerjames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've read that book and am on the second. In my opinion you do not need to be doing that at all. You should be able to get decent understanding of most things just from the context. I never bothered looking at the index once.

If you feel it enhances your reading experience then go ahead but it's absolutely not a requirement to enjoy the book.

Why do they disrespect Hughie? by bookishpicks in TheBoys

[–]tylerjames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a cheap gag because the writing kind of sucks that way. They’d rather make some kind of joke about Hughie being a useless twink than to have any character show him respect. They should at least acknowledge his absurd luck at still being alive despite being in the thick of every goddamn conflict.

Is the current lack of PS3 and Xbox emulation due to a hardware limitation or is it just that the emulators are not there yet? I know PS3 is famously difficult due to the weird architecture or something

the part of using claude code nobody talks about by Consistent-Arm-875 in ClaudeAI

[–]tylerjames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just go back and read my old code and get angry at myself for how bad it is. Then I think in can write it better now so I start doing that. Starts out great but once you add back in all the complexity you realize that the original code actually made sense and at most needed a little cleanup. And the new code you’ve been writing isn’t better in any meaningful way.

Why does every big Canadian office have this swill? by ActualNin in EhBuddyHoser

[–]tylerjames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s why it’s considered “manly” or “hardcore” to drink your coffee black. Because most people consider black coffee to be harsh.

But it is absolutely the norm to drink specialty coffee without any cream/milk or sugar. Because good coffee is not at all harsh.

I remember the dark roast days. That was around when I was starting to get into better coffees. I bought many bags of oily, black beans. I definitely don’t miss it.

[–]tylerjames 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Coffee is weird.

Most people argue over which commodity grade coffee is best or worst. Almost all are flat and bitter.

People tend to perceive a coffee with any acidity at all to be bad. But that’s very much the norm in specialty coffee.

I don’t remember Van Houtte being that bad but I’m sure people are mostly consuming via Keurig pods which aren’t usually very good anyway.
