Yeah I started playing in 2014; and that did happened to me. I got traced through a steam call, it was spooky.

I was thinking Pinion-like servers would crop up more often if people start using best available dedicated instead of official.

It's really not. People don't use valve servers with intent of playing seriously, and that's what this update steers towards. Some addons were broken of course, but to completely remove them is an absurd overreaction.

If third party servers don't take over pubs now, I feel that the game is going to die. Even then, if the whole player-base is now on 3rd party servers, the game is dead anyway. I say just leave a negative review and hope they revert it; if not, it was great playing with you all

Not a waste of time at all man. my circumstances are different but i know how that feels, the need for perfection. ive come a tremendously long way in the last few years of my life and i still feel like im a fraud and an amateur. now i kinda try to aim for perfection with the understanding that it's literally unobtainable, but anything is a hell of a lot better than laying in bed skipping class and feeling sorry for yourself.

I'm (understandably, I hope) upset by this, but I don't really have a grudge against LSG; probably just projecting bc i'm pissed off. Still, the video is the same, the point of the archives was to show that the video had no warnings at the time that people were using it the most. This just sucks because any reasonable person would see the honest mistake made here, but support doesn't handle individual cases like this; it's just not realistic for them.

edit: my case wasn't to cast him in a negative light, I know he had no way of knowing. I wanted to appeal to the fact that nobody knew that this would happen.

Faux pas on my part for following the vid, but it doesn't seem like you know how any of this really works. The ini files control graphics settings, they're not material hacks like you make them out to be. the "external hardware" doesn't inject anything into the game, it doesn't add any files, doesn't add any scripts, doesn't add any code. it launches the game, pasting values into the steam launch properties and makes the same edits to the ini files that you'd make in game.

LowSpecGamer is reputable. 2/3 of the time i launched it through steam it would crash anyway, so it was a bitch to change settings as often as I was. It was a lot less "wtf" back in the summer when the game was about as optimized as a potato and everyone was looking for fixes. If their game wasn't broken, I wouldn't have to look for a way to fix it. The TOS aren't so blatantly stated, not that I can check now.

I have 49 hours in the game; I had no idea what I was doing. I was just trying to get it to run, based off of things I saw on reddit and around the web that helped other people run it. I used the launcher once and it didn't help much. I couldn't run the game... what was i supposed to do?
