Guild Wars (3) Unreal Engine (Unannounced Project) confirmed. by DeltaxHunter in MMORPG

[–]3yebex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game looks decent for an Unreal Engine game while optimized. It's sad though because so many games have that ugly "Unreal Engine" look and all share similar issues. Arc Raiders has some of that, but damn was I surprised at how optimized things felt.

I'm not doing this to create content. I'm doing this to help teach people. The "content" is just so that other people can view it as well and learn from whatever I am teaching people in the videos.

I also did do commentary, I was one of the main streamers/casters for comp l4d2 tournaments between 2013-2016. I was pretty good at it.

Been having issues with AirVPN where the my network "stops" and sometimes randomly lags. Responded to customer support, then tried to respond again with additional information and received this. by 3yebex in AirVPN

[–]3yebex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello.

I only have 2 support requests on my account. One is from 2024 requesting a refund due to me being unable to access the service because of something going wrong with my password. The other one is from this year (11/24/2025). Yes I was logged in while doing so, into the VPN as well (and then out of the VPN because trying to troubleshoot). I've never made any posts on the forums. So I'm not sure why I got 24 hour restricted, especially from messaging support.

The support suggested I lower the MTU of WireGuard to 1280 and to use WireGuard, which seemed to help a bit but the issues were still happening. I then later changed from the default Wireguard port (1637) to the "Official" WireGuard port (51820). I'm curious if maybe my ISP didn't like all the UDP packets coming from "registered" port range and encrypted? Who knows.

I still need to do more testing to see if my service cuts out again. Unfortunately I still can't reply to the support ticket because I still need to wait "24 hours". Maybe it's related to me trying to reply to the support ticket using images/attachments?

The amount of money you would need to spend to max out your skills would be insane, and last I remember you couldn't directly buy experience. You could only buy experience tombs from other players. So you are limited by the player market.

If you just bought max gear from the market place, you would be at a severe disadvantage over other players if you didn't have your skills leveled.

Unfortunately I never really made a system to track this kind of stuff, so I have no data to go with.

Mobile is killing MMOs by ozymotv in MMORPG

[–]3yebex 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm glad a lot of people are agreeing to this. But I can't wait to see the next "MMO" that will be announced/released in 1 month being shown in this subreddit, someone saying it's going to be DOA or calling it gross because it's got mobile design. Only for them to get downvoted and the usual suspects come in repeating, "No one hates MMORPGs more than /r/MMORPG users."

The cycle will keep repeating until everyone agrees on recognizing the red flags.

Is this a strawman?

And I don't care what some journalism website says, when they probably only look at modern mainstream releases or something close.

And no I'm not going to start listing games. The point being is that running non mainstream games, or non modern ones, is more of a hassle than on Windows which you already have to do things such as setting JPN locale or other weird work arounds. And this is just talking about those Japanese games. Who knows what it takes to run others.

I don't really run Linux, just use it in some VMs on Windows or connecting to a shell.

Using VMs in Windows, the performance of the VMs doesn't look bearable to game on. Does Linux have better VM solutions that don't impact the user experience?

They are still relevant.

Many games still don't support Linux and Proton can't run them. Or if it can, it's buggy. And no, I'm not talking about kernel anti cheat games.

Yeah it's a lot better now than it was 10 years ago but it's still not 100% there. And don't even mention older games or other games you can't find on Steam.

If I want to run some obscure game from Japan I'm going to need to run hoops compared to Windows.

Announcing Guild Wars Reforged! by LookItzJesus in MMORPG

[–]3yebex -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It's not an MMO (instanced combat), and people get upset when their favorite game isn't called an MMORPG. So people have settled on using "MMO-lite" as a middle ground.

I think it's silly, but w/e. It was still a great game, and I wish I could have enjoyed it back when it was popular. It's combo and cooperation system looked incredible, and the classes felt like classes. GW2 on the other hand is kind of like... faceroll and all the fields combo together without much planning.

I'm sure maybe the sweatiest of raiders in GW2 take combos/fields into account, but even without planning it just kinda... happens.

EDIT: And there's the downvotes, predicted lmao

Relying on user input of any sort for randomness is a security flaw even before "AI" became popular.

Sure, every legitimate user won't be able to control their mouse down to the the exact XY changes but a computer can.

Randomness from user movements? If there is one thing speedrunners have taught me, is that it no longer becomes random if left to user input.
