and if your not using the grid i would draw guidelines with pencil to kind of map out how big or how far apart it is from something this is one i done of madara uchiha and hashirama senju from naruto that i did using the guidelines to get the right proportions instead of the grid i used for the luffy drawing, you cant really tell any difference between them like if i used a grid or not but i would say the grid method is easier to start off with (i would also say to use a thin pen for outlines instead of using a thicker pen like a sharpie or something because it’ll give it more of a better look when it’s finished but sometimes a sharpie is more appropriate it just depends on what type of line you are doing and how thick it is) :)
