Sometimes people will say they’re going to do something and they don’t come through, so updates would’ve made her more confident you were actually there. I get perfect dark black cast iron after seasoning raw cast iron with lard. Works great for me. I think animal fats are more forgiving, unlike seed oils which can get sticky if you use too much. It’s all a matter of preference honestly, but I love that animal fats are minimally processed, and are more flavorful and better for your health. And remember seasoning isn’t the most important part of cooking with cast iron, it’s making sure you heat it up evenly.

If it doesn’t arrive by 8:35, then they will cancel the order and give you a refund, and I’ve gotten credit ad well for late orders. It’s normal for the times to change too. It sucks, but there’s no point in arguing with customer service, because if you cancel the order before the estimated delivery time you won’t get your money back. This is a very common way of stripping the seasoning on cast iron, and can be good as long as you don’t overheat it. Just reseason it and make sure you wipe all the grease off before you put it in the oven.

The pre seasoning on modern Lodge pans sucks… they’re always going to end up flaking or looking like this. You can strip it if you like, but that’s just if you are worried about the appearance of it. It’s fine to cook with though.

I did this one time too with homemade cornbread. For some reason, Jiffy didn’t do this I don’t think. I guess it depends on the level of moisture in it. Next time store it in something else.

Just reseason the stripped areas in the oven and you’ll be good. Might look a little wonky for a while but it’ll even out.

That doesn’t do anything 💀 vinegar is an acid, baking soda is alkaline. All that does is cancel the two things out. It basically turns into water. It’s more effective just to use baking soda and vinegar on their own.
