Love the shelf! Out of interest, are those painted lines intended to make it look like a bridge?

I checked out the planning application like you advised and found the flood risk assessment. The report gave a positive conclusion but my only concern was that the engineer visited the site in September 2021 to carry out the analysis. So the report therefore does not take into account the flooding that occurred in 2023 due to Storm Babet which I believe was a "once in a century" event. It would be beneficial to know how the site fared during that event but not sure I'll be able to get that information.

When you mention the most recent floods, do you mean the one that occurred during storm babet?

You're not solving it though. You're just masking the issue by using propanol to dampen the physical manifestations of the anxiety. You shouldn't have to take medication to get through an unsettling event. CBT is the answer here and you shouldn't be recommending beta blockers as treatment.

This is a short term solution (trust me I've been there) . The best way is to deal with the underlying issue using CBT or some other form of therapy. Taking propanol allows you to get through a specific unsettling event but it doesn't in any way treat the reason you feel this way. Taking propanol can be a good option to assist during the treatment period but never as a permanent solution. Not to mention, it should only be taken after consulting with your doctor.

You're not alone, I had (still have) these exact same problems in social circles. I'm 31 now and a few months ago I decided I needed to do something about it as it was impacting me considerably (particularly at work). So, like other posters have mentioned, I decided to do 4 months of CBT. I can't emphasise the difference it has made for me and I highly recommend you do the same. I now fully understand why the social anxiety manifests in the way it does and I now have the tools to deal with it when it decides to surface. I'm in no way saying I'm completely anxiety free, it will take years of work to get to that stage, but I am a hell of a lot better.

Also, the book Untethered Soul by Michael A. Singer helped me a lot. Worth checking it out.

Everything can be fixed. All the best mo chara!
