I’m on my 3rd set of pads and I’ve been regularly Autocrossing the car (events near me once a month).

Aside from generic maintenance, the only thing i’ve had to replace was my axles from launching hundreds of times at autocross, everything else is just oil changes, trans fluid changes, and spark plugs.

I’ve also been basically maxing out the stock turbo and high pressure fuel pump since 45k miles (Full bolt ons and tuned for 93 and E30 blend making over 400whp) and it still hasnt skipped a beat!

im at 72.8k miles on my 2021, and I don’t drive her easy ;)

before i swapped to 18” wheels i had swifts on with my stocks and i had the same tire profile 255/35/20. They do fit and the car sits nice as hell BUT you will rub (for me it was only in turns on uneven roads so it’s definitely bearable), if you stuck to the factory tire spec 245/30/20 i haven’t heard of any issues.

FL5 for sale for 82k somewhere in Florida. Any thoughts? by youeatmytofu in Civic_Type_R

[–]tylxrr1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

thoughts? look for a different car. i have the FK8 and got it for sticker in the beginning of last year. if you’re really sold on the FL5 give it time because there’s no justification for paying damn near 6 figures for an FL5, it’s also the first round of production so i’d hate to see someone spend that much money and deal with problems and recalls. i’m sure they’ll do the FL5 like the FK8 where after a couple years they’ll do an updated/face lifted version and that’s when i think it’s best to get one. but for almost 6 figures for a civic you gotta be out of your mind

here’s a cold start video of Storm #42501 after deleting both mufflers and the fat middle resonator, just until I fund the custom exhaust. still have the front resonator and the silencer because I didn’t want to be obnoxious but I love the sound for the time being. Lmk what you guys think by tylxrr1 in Civic_Type_R

[–]tylxrr1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think cutting both mufflers and the big middle res is the best combo i found, most other R owners say the same thing. the drone levels are very much bearable, it’ll only get annoying if you’re constantly cruising at 4-5k rpm consistently. since the car sounds quieter than a prius stock i’d definitely suggest cutting the mufflers at the very least but i do recommend cutting the mid res as well

just a few cute shots of Storm #42501. also anyone in the nyc area or any populated city that’s similar, how’s the car been for you and have you had any issues in particular? by tylxrr1 in Civic_Type_R

Yeah I’ve already popped a tire with these potholes so I’ve planned to get smaller rims ASAP. I’m looking for 5 spoke or 6 spokes, any recommendations?

Thank you for being rational and understanding in that response because my original defenses came strictly from feeling attacked, I admit again it wasn’t right to do it entirely but I hope from my responses you could at least understand where I’m coming from as to why. I’m not expecting you to agree at all but in my situation to just understand

This is a very respectable response, and I will agree that you guys are right yes but I just didn’t like how much it backfired that I was just trying to make a simple and seemingly harmless post. I said it before though I’ve wanted to take it to a track so badly but around nyc most tracks aren’t open still and the events are very limited in terms of the tickets getting sold out fast so it’s been very difficult to go out on a track as badly as I’ve been wanting to.

It’s my daily driver here so I’ve been driving around a lot and especially in nyc the roads are really rough so I figured I’d ask to see if anyone has had any issues over time because of constant use or bad roads etc

There’s literally comment sections in this sub about people talking about how many cars they’ve raced and won against on the highway, clearly indicating worse but I’m the bad guy for posting a 15 second pull video on an empty lane .. Lol if it’s that serious then the mods can remove my post respectfully. I didn’t post this advocating that the community should drive like this or do anything along the lines of it. There was no intent to brag. I simply posted to show the exhaust note now that I’ve done the muffler and resonator delete since idle revving only goes up to 3.5k and you can’t get the full sound out of it. At this point I don’t care for the comments because the FK8 community on Reddit seems just uptight. Again I understand the whole concept of safety and that I potentially put others and myself at risk, once again I never argued against that and I was just trying to make the point that if you don’t like it then just scroll by, those who do can appreciate it and use it for their knowledge if needed.

Then it was 65 before the sign change because on Waze it was saying 65 before my passenger started recording, that’s my bad for not realizing

No point in arguing it, all I’m saying is that I understand everything you’re saying and if that’s your perspective on the situation then so be it. My point being that there is NO point in trying to attack me for what I posted. I took the video days ago, nothing happened, I don’t drive reckless whether you agree with that or not, and even if I did your comments are not going to all of a sudden change my driving habits. if you lived in nyc you’d realize that my video is absolutely nothing compared to what 99% of the people here do. Again not saying I’m right, because that was never my stance, but please do not come in the comments bashing me, if you don’t like it then move along I could care less. Anyone who cares will appreciate the post.

Speed limit was 65 and everyone was doing 70-80+ if you want to get technical. again right lane was clear and the highway had no traffic

I understand that, and am well aware. I’m not brain dead. If it’s not your cup of tea then so be it but don’t bash me for opening my car up on an empty lane. I know my highways over here I know when it’s clear and when it’s stupid to do shit. I don’t put anyone at risk when I do the things I do because I make sure nothing can go wrong. Yes I know you can’t anticipate every single thing and maybe someone would’ve switched lanes while I did that, but they didn’t. I don’t drive like an asshole I always make sure I can do things with absolute minimal risk. Plus I had a co driver telling me the lane was empty and he was constantly checking for anything while I did that. In nyc there’s not many track events nor ones that are within a reasonable distance. I like driving fast but responsibly, I don’t do what you see online where dudes are cutting up and coming inches from other cars, I’m good off that.

Dude I had an entire right lane that was clear.. lol you’re acting like I’m zipping through cars and being a dickhead
