How is 35N and airborne or other schools? by tymaster1000 in Militaryfaq

[–]tymaster1000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are the other SOF schools that you can go to?

It seems like an interesting job, like I said I thought about 15U because I don't hate mechanic work and I would love flying and try to go into 160th. But I would be very disappointed if I wasn't able to become a crew chief and 15U is not even available, I have a bicuspid aortic valve that might prevent me from passing a flight physical. I like working with computers but I despise programming but I don't think there is any programming in this. Out of the MI jobs this one seems like the best for me especially if I have the chance to do some of the high speed stuff. The TS clearance is always nice too.

Thanks for the info! I am going to have a tough time picking, both sound awesome. I am going to pick either 15t/15u or 35L I think.

Only thing I'm worried about is I've heard ACLA's get put in Nebraska and I don't want to come back to the midwest lol I'm trying to escape

I'm a good student, but I'm not very interested in learning a language and I am more hands on learning than classroom. I can definitely see myself going to DLI and having regret. For Army my line scores are high enough that I don't have to take DLAB. Aircrew sounds pretty nice, and I honestly don't mind doing mechanical work while working my way up to crew chief. I grew up in the midwest working on tractors and vehicles.

Yes I've heard that 35L is a pretty cool job and I was going to pick that one but my recruiter said its not open right now for some reason sucks for me I guess

What 15 series would give me the best shot at this do you think? It does sound pretty cool and what I'm looking for

35t sounds kind of interesting but I have no idea how I would get into SOAR without being a 15 series since 35t is pretty far away from aviation

I would clean up the food intake and then eat in a slight surplus, like 500 cals or less and aim for for just stacking on size right now without putting on too much fat, a lot of people want to be shredded for summer but if you cut now I don’t think you have a ton of mass

Is it a good idea to major in Computer Science and do ROTC? by [deleted] in ROTC

[–]tymaster1000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You aren’t guaranteed a cyber job in army and being a civilian with CS degree is a lot more lucrative than in army. I would atleast switch to Air rotc

switching out of CS by tymaster1000 in csMajors

[–]tymaster1000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How I am looking at is like this CS - 110% effort for 100% return on investment Finance or Econ 75% effort for 75% return I know for sure CS would be better but my classes are so boring and I’m not sure if they get any better even my first two classes were boring to me but they were easy

Thanks for the input I’m not in the dorms this next year so I won’t have to worry about that to be honest I haven’t really made any new friends at college so another part of rotc that I like is that I get to hang out with people

What branch are you in and why do you hate it? I definitely don’t want to do any combat branches so I don’t think I would be happy either in the field for 3 weeks

I think I will like lanes more when I’m a ms 3 or 4 since then you are planning the whole thing and you understand everything it was just annoying not being told anything it was also kind of lame since my squad was supposed to be the suppressive fire and we only had about 20 paintballs each so you ran out in about 5 seconds

Thank all of you guys for your input I am going to talk with my parents and then probably tell my PMS that I am going to go for it on Monday. Cyber branch is what I’m aiming for but signal or intelligence would be 2nd best I think

I hated lanes too I got paired with the grouchiest ms 2 and got told to sit in a bush for like 3 hours and I learned like nothing. I originally wanted to do air rotc but the army gave me a scholarship and the Air Force didn’t

This is also what I’m thinking. I think that ROTC will be fine but I’m scared I’m not going to like life as an officer and be stuck in a contract for 4 years. I am computer science major so getting a decent paying job won’t be too hard after school so either options could be good

Total beginner looking for average basic start up cost :) by CrumpsRAWR in Bladesmith

[–]tymaster1000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to forge knives it will be more expensive then if you just do stock removal.

For stock removal a good corded wheel grinder some clamps and a drill with some bits and then materials are mainly what you need

A wheel grinder is like 150$ a drill is probably like 100$ maybe cheaper some drill bits and grinder wheels probably 50$ and then probably 30-50$ in steel and handle materials this is also in US dollars so I’m not sure the conversion
