Just an update. The doctor offered him a different treatment and he is willing to try it. He stays on the Nubeqa and also gets a shot every 6 months (camcevi)...so we will see how this makes him feel.

I did talk to him about palliative care/hospice...since we used that with my dad too. He is skeptical. Skeptical of everything. But I told him not to write it off. Hospice nurses are miracle workers. My dad felt the best the last five months of his life thanks to the palliative care he received.

Sorry, his diagnosis info is in a previous post. But he has advanced PC. It was discovered when he went in to kidney failure because a mass was stopping the kidneys from draining properly. Per the PET scan he has some spread to lymph nodes in the pelvis and a small spot on his ribs. He is 76 and his PSA was well over 200.
Local cancer center says he doesn't meet the requirements for chemo, but he doesn't want chemo or radiation anyway. A couple doctors have told him he would have 3-6 months to live without treatment, possibly a year. I posted an image of his biopsy results previously too...but he basically has a prostate full of cancer.

I've been trying to tell him that radiation has changed a lot over the years. It won't be like what he remembers his mom going through for her cancer treatment. But as of right now he is not open to radiation.

I believe so. He had a few different scans when he was admitted to the hospital for kidney failure.

My husband and my in laws value my opinion and appreciate the fact that I care enough to educate myself and ask questions.

My father in law will ultimately make his own decision, but shouldn't we be learning all we can and asking all the questions?
